There is a rumour that Mercedes Benz (Illmor) may pull out at the end of the year due to dissapointing results and a lack of teams supporting them next year. Bit sad when you consider how good their F1 engine is and that they won the 1997 CART engine championship. It seems that since they went for an ultra small motor it's all gone wrong. It's a bit like Goodyear tyres, suddenly the competition got too good so they just walked away...

Well, DC has to give a 2 year ntoice to Illmor for them to pull out, so if they did pull out, they'd have some compensation to pay Illmor. I think they are just making noise so CART will listen to thier ideas on the new engine formula. Of course, part of the problem is nobody wsants a DC engine, PacWest is rumored ot be du,mping them, and since they own a stake in Nunn's operation, Nunn may dump them as well. So there might not be any customers left.
