Vitaphone currently fastest and the Corvette is doing quite well either. |

The Lamborghini is doing well too: it is faster than the GPC Ferrari 575s.

Quite the spread in times at the front. Hopefully this gap closes as the weekend unfolds.

It's only the first session of the weekend, so very hard to draw conclusions. If one was to draw conclusions, I'd suggest that really its just a three car race, between 2 MC12's and a single 550. The rest just seem too far back to factor. A second per lap for the JMB car is going to add up to a big gap, and the Corvette is 1.7 seconds per lap off. Of course, my expectation is that these gaps are going to close some, and I'd expect the Saleens to close the gap quite a bit. |

And hasn't the MC12 been given yet another weight penalty and smaller rear wing since the Monza test?
These constant changes to the spec of the car does nothing for the credibility of the series! |

Yes but the smaller wing would be a advantage I would think at Monza. Less drag, and as we know Monza isnt a high downforce track lol, and im betting the MC12 has more than enough downforce to get the required optimum level for most tracks it will visit this year, and still be faster on the straights due to the smaller wings.

I assume you already had a look on the times of the first tests at Monza - thanks Laurent !
Three Mazzas in the top five, with a 550 and the C5R. The Lambo is surprisingly (to me) 7th... I just realised that there's only two Saleens left ! How sad... |

Only 2 Saleens left!? I thought there were numerous lined up for this year...? shouldn't GNM and Konrad have 2 each? and someone else had one in that splendid black livery....??? they nearly all gone!?

As for RAM - Stanco arrived very late, very tired, and decided not to drive today.
Janus is still in Poland, and will be in Italy tommorow - after schedule change, he was unable to change booking - thousand's of pilgrims are flying to Italy for the Pope's funeral. |

Only the first 10 minutes of the session were dry. Therefore the times are insignificant at best. The ram, 2nd konrad and 2nd Nash Saleen decided wet weather running was not worth the potential car damage.

yea, these times mean nothing. Im sure Konrad did not go out right away in the session, and it rained 10 mins into the session, so thats why the times were down.
Lets not worry, im sure at least 3 of the Saleens will be on pace on Saturday. |

Definitely not much that can be inferred from those times given the weather, but it's still logical to expect the Maseratis to be strong. I'm sure the RAR 550 can get amongst them over a single lap, but with two weak codrivers there's no way that Bouchut can keep them in contention.
I suppose the same issue is likely to plague the lead Larbre 550 (Gardel), and the second JMB MC12 (Buncombe, Rusinov). The stronger lineups (Lechner/BV-R, GLPK, Melo/Belloc, Kox/Simon) will have to count on their equipment to be fast, which is rather unlikely from the latter two. That Saleen looks mega! It's nice to see a blend of black with that yellow!
The race might only come down to a car or two, but never the less, I'm still looking forward to it! |
