Bernie's Historic V8's Brands Hatch 4th/5th June

Yep thats correct 5th June is a Tuesday but its also a Bank Holiday this year curtesy of HM's Jubilee. There will be a 20 minute sprint race on the Monday and a 40 minute 1 or 2 driver race on the Tuesday with compulsory pitstop. We are expecting a good turn out and I will update this thread with runners and riders as they come in.

The event is being hosted by The Aston Martin Owner's Club (AMOC) and looks like being a good event. See you there!

I'm in as another racer can only do the 40 minute race so I can now do the sprint. I will be bringing the IROC-Z

My entry is in for Brands. Looking forward to it. MGV8 is usually fun on the Indy circuit, but never driven with the Camaros, Mustangs and Astons there. You can get three MGs across round some of the corners, but won't trying that one! Well presumably not more than once!!!

Just need to re pack my exhaust silencer and put the new windscreen in. Exhaust repacking always the worst job! What ever I get to pack in never stays in long. Always a build up to get the back exhaust box off, start off with a rubber mallet, build up to a lump hammer, get annoyed and end it with a sledge hammer!

Looks a good AMOC Meeting, plenty on to watch.

I haven't seen anything suggesting that this one will be televised, so perhaps they've canned it for this year.

Last year's races closely arranged for TV (Motors, I think it was) probably weren't ideal for Live TV on a minor channel on a summer Sunday afternoon. You're unlikely to get the volume of viewers necessary to attract worthwhile advertising revenue, unless there's some very specific marketing to tie it in with a specialist brand.

I know I did watch some of them with less than 10 cars on the grid, not a good spectacle.

I am still intrigued about Bernie's orginal info about the possibility of "a Le Mans type start, but a little different". No doubt he will let us have a few more details soon.

We haven't spoken to Bernie but I'm guessing that he wants to do something smilar to our 'Le Mans start' at the 360MRC 6 hour this weekend. It's NOT part of the actual start procedure but a symbolic part of the gridding up process and just adds a little bit to the 'show' ...... but, as I say, I'm guessing..

LOL, no, nothing interesting happened anyway - just plodded to the flag

For some reason my editing software was really playing up, it took me waaay to long to edit/upload the other bits trying to fit into 10 minute segments. Typically once I'd uploaded it Youtube sent me a nice email stating I can now upload longer videos. grrr

He explained to me that it would be a case of running across the track to your car, where you'll have two team members there to belt you in (if needed) and then once all of the team members have left the track the warm up lap starts. We'll await finals from the man himself though I guess!

You might be able to get two team members and yourself in the front of the Camaro. There's only room for me and the obligatory MGB whicker basket with my half time sandwiches and flask of tea in! Be a giggle watching any lads with Hans devices on their helmets getting in though!
