Donington FIA GT Meeting 8-10th August

For those going to this meeting the timetable draft as at 7th July 2003 can be seen at http://www.barc.net/timetables/dtt200335.htm.

Great meeting looking at the races but the finish of each day is;

Friday 1900
Saturday 1930
Sunday 1740

No lunch break that I can see and only 10 minutes to clear the track between sessions. Going to be a long day for those few marshals who are there.

Regards

Jim

shouldnt need a full complement for that last race on Saturday as from what I can gather there'll be about 2 FIA Sports Cras turning up (ok thats an exageration but there wont be that many)

I like the bit at the bottom of the BARC timetable page that says lunch break - As required does that mean when we all start to fall over they will give us a break.
And why is there only 5 minuetes to clear the track between sessions for the go cart things on saturday morning??

Was due to go, but I'm pulling out in protest at the timetable as previously published. Your link isn't working at the moment, so has it changed? Previously it was 35½ hours in 3 days with no breaks. I'm going to Mallory instead.

I bet that wont be far from the truth.

Has anyone got any idea how many they have for the Friday, will be interesting to see if they have enough to run it.

Yes, that is the same is I saw before. I like the bit at the bottom:

START TIME 09.00)
LUNCH BREAK AS REQUIRED
FINISH TIME 18.00
CURFEW 20.00

which raises several questions.
What does lunch break as required mean?

How is finish time of 18:00 calculated bearing in mind these items:

Friday.
17.50 18.20 FIA SPORTSCARS - QUALIFYING
18.30 19.00 FIA SPORTSCARS - QUALIFYING
Saturday.
RACE TITLE LAPS APPROX TIME
2 FIA SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP 2.5 hrs 17.00

Having finished our day at Loton Park at 3pm on Saturday a bunch of us were going to come to Donny and watch the rest of the day................
But one of the drivers said he was going to buy all the marshals a pint for a good days work ............
No contest really................

Fab day at Mallory. Lots of good racing, all of the (many) drivers who visited us were friendly, including one who liked us so much in qualifying he came back in the race, all done by 6:00 as the curfew put paid to the Austin 7 race. And I won a fiver in the raffle. I think I made the right choice.

Oh, and I had a personally signed reply from BARC re my protest about the timetable. I shall be writing back...

It must of been the friendly welcome or perhaps the fact we were hiding at the time, that caused No 47 in the Stock Hatch to come back again. A damn good days racing.
