ANY 2017 NEW YEAR 'REVOLUTIONS' ?

OK, it's that time of year when folk make so called 'New Year Resolutions' and then forget / break them quite quickly....

So, anyone prepared to declare to the world any personal Historic Racing resolution for 2017?

To start the ball rolling, here's one from me-

March 2017 will mark 10 years since Gilbert Gilbern first entered a motorsport event, so I reckon a special 'New Adventure' is needed in 2017 to mark our 10 year partnership. My resolution is to find one and do it!

Question is, what should it be, maybe the Nurburgring Historic Marathon, a rally / tour, hillclimb, or something completely different?

Two revolutions for me.

First, I would like to have both the 40(trusted driver) and 917(me) out together in the same race, probably Spa, and secondly that a race organiser will allow the odd replica to run in some more "historic" races, even if I have to wave a white surrender flag, start at the back of the grid and carry 100kg of ballast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I think I shall launch a classic motorsport event, either 'filling' a much needed gap in the market or simply copying another event...the working title for which is the Retro Classic Racing Revival Festival of Power, the format of which will be a 3 day extravaganza of races, plus every UK car club with all members attending, retro trade mall and a black tie dress code.....the world's biggest ever event naturally, supported by an auction of barn finds and Ferraris with less than 30 miles on the clock, probably mostly previously owned by rock stars and glitterati. Venue TBA but I might go for a unique new format, a world first obviously, and hold the event at three circuits simultaneously, with 10 races at each, streamed live to all venues and the interweb.....

Failing all of the above, I shall just be here imparting words of wisdom and moaning, as usual....

I think you you will find that that event is called the "Stoke Row and Nuffield Motor Sport Day". As Mike says happy new year.

One resolution I should make is to learn how to use my camera properly, I have only the vaguest idea of what knobs to twist, and what numbers/symbols should light up on the screen for any given situation. Maybe then I can post pictures like Gary's next winter.

Trouble is I am not good with 'book larnin''.

Well, I cannot call them resolutions but there are still one or two 'different' races that I would like to put on (the Revett Straight Cup, being an example) since I would need meeting organisers with spare slots, who would be prepared to risk running them. Probably too late now, so lets call them aspirational. In any event, I now seem to be involved in one way or another with about 12 races for 2017, which is probably enough!
