Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder 2005
Weather conditions were ideal for the first session on Wednesday evening, whereas for the Thursday sessions rain was expected – and it duly arrived. However, during the closing stages of the last session on Thursday the odd numbers took advantage of the fact that the track was drying out. The SRT Corvette had already set the pace on Wednesday with a 1.30.204 on its 3rd lap out, and stayed where it was right through to the conclusion of the last session - on top of the rankings.
Markus Palttala, in the PSI-Porsche Biturbo, took 2nd for a good part of the sessions but both the Kuismanen and GLPK-Vipers set better times on Wednesday night. Finally, the flying Finn regained his position on the front row on the drying track on Thursday. So SRT and PSI share the front row for the upcoming Euphony 24 hours of Zolder. All information about the 24 Hours of Zolder can be found on http://www.24u.be |

How populair is this race in Belgium (compared to the 24h of Spa for example)?
What's the average number of visitors for this race? |

When I went there, in the days the spa 24h was touring cars only, zolder was more popular

Can anyone tell me what this means:
"Ontstekingsproblemen voor de Kuismanen Viper" According to Babelfish ontstekingsproblemen = lighting problems, but that doesn't sound too correct |

almost 4 hours in the race now. Kuismanen Viper seems to be running steadily now, but its more than 20 laps down.
the audi TT with Ellen Lohr has retired SRT vette has a 38 second lead over the PSI Porsche of Mollekens - Palttala - van Sande - de Radigues, and 1 lap over the GLPK Viper. |

GLPK viper retired. Kumpen and Longin will get a good night's sleep for the FIA-GT race in Oschersleben tomorrow

same thing, hit by a backmarker. traffic is usually a big problem in Zolder, especially at night. and there are a lot of inexperienced pay drivers.
The Vette will probably be able to continue, though |

I saw during the live feed how crazy the traffic is. There seems to always be some car to pass, it looked like there are 200 cars on the track!

This is turning out to be a great race. Three Porsches (4, 5 & 31) are battling for the lead after 14-Hours (all 3 lead during the last 2-hours), while the Corvette is catching up quickly turning laps at least 4-5 seconds a lap quicker and is now 4th overall, less then 5 laps down from the lead.

Unbelievable! The Corvette is back in the lead at 16th hour!
What happened to the #5 GT2? That thing was flying with Palttala leading the team. They were exchanging the lead with the #4 RSR for a good 8-hours. |

About #5..
28.08 - 08:00 Porsche 5 weer aan de box, remproblemen achteraan. Babelfish says.. "Porsche 5 to the box, brake problems achteraan". I'm not sure if there was something else too. |

On TV, they said there were gearbox problems for that car. Mollekens said that there was no gearbox available for a Porsche with 700hp.
meanwhile, it seems Kuismanen does not like his viper. they already had 4 fires on that car during refuelling |

Maybe we'll find Jos Menten's helmet on E-Bay.
Nice win for the Pratt & Miller Corvette! They lost 39 minutes in the pits making repairs and come back to lead in the 15th hour. They were turing laps 4-7 seconds a lap quicker then the #4, #5 & #31 Porsches. Marc Goosens deserves a top ride in either Champcars, Daytona Prototype or Le Mans Endurance. Jan Heylen is a star as well! |

This looked like a fun race with an interesting variety of cars, like our IMSA back in the 70's. DSC reports that the police showed up to confiscate the radio station operating at the track! Maybe they can find the helmet that was stolen too? |
