Oulton Park this weekend...

Havn't heard much talk on here about the BTCC at Oulton Park this weekend. Hope Jason can hold on to the No.1 spot, but I think Giovanardi might steal it after this weekend. Im heading down there on the Sunday, just hope the weather holds out . . .

I can sense carnage ahead. Especially if it's raining *praying to god it doesn't, just makes standing on the banks miserable*

I've just spent the day getting drenched at Donington, so it'd be nice if it stayed dry tomorrow.

However every time I visit Oulton it just seems to be grey and chilly and threaten rain but never progress beyond the spitting stage. Doesn't matter what time of year it is, always the same!

No Eoin Murray yet again?

A shame Tom crashed it, he could've been right up there. Great to see Adam Jones back in the fray so strongly. Blanckley's higher up that usual too.

Eoin is still lacking an engine, sadly I really hope he can get some better sponsorship sorted out, he's got the talent to be running with the big boys.

I'm really happy to see Rick Kerry making some progress with the 120d, I know he's still at the wrong end of the field but at least he should be able to have a race with someone tomorrow. A bit surprised with Turkington on pole after the dominance of the Civics in free practice, but good on him. Should be some good racing tomorrow

A fairly sedate first race for the BTCC boys (and girl). It took a fairly robust (but fair) move from Shedden to get past Turkington, and Giovanardi slipped through as well. As soon as Turks managed to get his front tyres up to temperature he was right on Gio's back bumper, but never really got close enough to pass.

Just watched the Seats in the rain. 3 massive accidents, but all drivers okay.

Fantastic for Jackson to take a win, Mat and the team are really showing what they're capable of. Adam Jones did well too. Martyn Bell deserved a point as well after so many problems so far.

It's such a shame so many of the top guys went out at the start of race 3. I was hoping Neal and Turkington could catch up a bit in the standings, but it's looking like a 2-horse race now. At least Gio and Plato could be argued as the 2 best drivers in the series.

I was delighted with Jackson's victory. The moan of the day for me,was the sheer amount of accidents, resulting in lengthy delays both during and between the races. Everytime somebody put a wheel on the grass at Old Hall, my heart sank, because there was only one place they were going.

What happened to Jim Pocklington in race 3? The TV coverage showed him move well over for the second group of leaders to come by, then the angle changed, there seemed to be some debris bouncing across the track and a few seconds later showed him in an unspecified gravel trap.

He got in the way of Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden - with the result being one BMW in the gravel.

The TV missed Pocklington earlier in Race 3 going to wide on the exit of Knickerbrook and spinning in the process taking out the Dunlop signs towards Clay Hill. He was quite fortunate in not ending up hitting the barriers I thought. I had just moved from the spot the BMW ended up beach a few laps before too.

Standing at Cascades for Race 1, Turks was right on Gio's bumper through Cascades, but by the time they came over Hill Top the Vectra was several car lengths in front whilst Colin was being harassed by Matt Neal. The Vauxhall must be good on the power.

Race 2 was a bit of a non event though, and watching back the TV today the recovery didn't seem to have a hi-ab available which would certainly have helped with getting Dave Pinkney's car out the way. I thought Erkut had taken out an ITV cameraman in that incident though !

The time delay here was not caused by recovering the (badly damaged) cars, but because of the extensive barrier damage. It was deemed unsafe (justifiably considering the force of Howell's accident) to restart with the barrier left as it was.

Rebuilding the barriers at OP often involves the use of a JCB, as was the case here.

The cameraman did get quite a scare in that accident, but he had a smile on his face all day!
