Nicky and Colin or Nicky vs. Colin?
In watching Rally XS last night and the interview with Colin and Nicky, I detected a distinct frostiness of tone from Colin and the look on Nicky's face resembled the look my cat gets when she has been caught doing something she ought not to be doing.
Colin referred to one or two times in which Nicky had made some rather important mistakes (he said) that apparently had cost him dearly and though he said (through his teeth) that they had worked through them, it sure didn't sound sincere. Can this relationship be saved? Last edited by Liz; 20 Sep 2002 at 16:53. |

I'm sure I read somewhere that Colin and Nicky had a spat at the Rally Germany but have not read the article yet.

Nicky checked out of a service area late and got them a 10 second penalty, I know that. Perhaps that was what it was about.

Looks like Colin might look for a new co-driver next year. Citroen is the likely team he will go to because Subaru is fielding two cars of Makinen and Solberg and Ford's future is up in the air.

I don' think Colin is having the best of rallys. Could just be the frustration showing a little. Perhaps he liked the ASCAR race - where he didn't have a co-driver (just a spotter)?

I think Colin and Nicky are fine (apart from been utterly fed up at the position with Ford currently). Given the scrapes that they've been through which could be put down to driver error, the odd timing mistake they'll live with.

Thanks, that's a relief to know. I like Nicky and I think they make a good team. But the sooner Sanremo is forgotten the better, IMO (for them).

World Rally News is reporting that Ford has called off contract talks with Colin, and are going to go with Duval and Martin. Sainz is still not out of the running for a third car, but it's anyone's guess who'll be in the fourth Focus, if there even is one.
Hi ho, hi ho, to Citroen they'll go! Hey, I actually got a prediction right for once!!! Last edited by Lee Janotta; 25 Sep 2002 at 02:36. |
