Edmonton Race Changes Ownership
The Edmonton Sun reports a change in ownership to a company called Northlands and questions the deal's details, which are not entirely known, but the move is apparently made because the race has lost money over three years.

Northlands is also in charge of running Capital EX - a two week summer festival held at the same time as the Rexall Grand Prix, should be some good synergies there

Could someone please just fix this... |

The balance sheet aside for a moment John, Northlands is a pretty capable bunch. If there is a race, it'd be in very good hands. FWIW.

LOL Luke, he has his moments I'm sure, just like the rest of us.
In fact, Northlands may very well be the only group up there that can still pull it off, IMO. |

"Crash" Cameron, the racing writer for the Sun up there, provides some of the other operational details...apparently a big festival separately at the same time they're going to join together with the race in some form.

It sounds like a great deal as the grandstand rental costs have been a major issue for many street races, so it helps if they can be used elsewhere in the city for different events. Plus tying it in with the local festival should be great.

This race has been depicted as a money-maker (or at least break even). It has attracted good crowds - I was simply expressing my disappointment to find that despite that, they still could not at least break even.
Hopefully the new owners will be able to do that. |

That's true John, the Edmonton race has been touted as a success since year one. Success in a weird Willy Loman sort of way I guess.
Oh, and that was as laid back a Super Bowl half time show as we've seen in a long time by the way. |
