US TV coverage

I know we have a few US readers here. This should be of interest to them

Speedvison Network, in conjunction with its supplier, Performance Communications Group, Inc. will expand its coverage of international Touring Car racing in 2001 to include exclusive original coverage of the best in Touring Car racing from around the world. Included in this will be coverage of all 2001 events from the following series:

British Touring Car Championship
DTM - German Touring Car Championship
Australian V8 Super Cars.

Speedvision's coverage of international Touring Car racing has been continuous since the network's inception, and its 2001 schedule is reflective of the long term commitment Speedvision has made to bring the very best in both domestic and international motorsports to its viewing audience. The 2001 schedule will see consolidated coverage of all touring car events in November and December 2001.

In addition, Speedvision will continue its exclusive coverage of the McLaren/Mercedes Champions of the Future go-kart series.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! Now all I have to do is convince my Dad to pay the extra $5 to get Speedvision! This is really, really good for touring cars!

YES,YES,YES!!! Christmas came early this year!!! I've been waiting for this day to come for years!!!! It would be even cooler if they rebroadcast all those old DTM races?? Surely those races should be cheap to buy the broadcast rights for???

Now I am glad I stuck with Speedvision all these years!!

Maybe it won't become the NASCAR Network

While many road racing fans in the US have thought SV would become
The NASCAR Network, it would appear that is not the case.

However,some US sportscar racing fans don't think touring cars,especially DTM cars, are any better than NASCAR on road circuits.

I for one could not be happier about this news.

Most race fans I know have never heard of the DTM, AMLS, BTCC, or ETCC, let alone formula 1!
