...a little snippet from Robin Miller in his recent Starnews.com article...
Unser saluted long distance Despite making some disparaging comments about his old series, Al Unser Jr. still had some CART guys pulling for him last week at Las Vegas. "Michael Andretti called me in victory lane on my cell phone and told me he and Mario were watching the race and they were really, really happy for me because they know it's been a long dry spell," said Unser, whose Vegas win was his first since 1995. "Jimmy Vasser and Bryan Herta also called and that was great. It really meant a lot to us." ...way to go guys!.....craig! |

Al's a great guy who's had a tough couple of years.Mike and Mario know the pressures of "big time racing"and have been CLOSE friends of the Unsers for decades. That's part of what I like about the racing community in general. The comaraderie that doesnt seem to exist in "stick and ball" games. ON TO INDY AL ! "Drink The Milk Bud"

It was nice to read that part of the article. I think that we fans take Al going to a "rival" series in a worse light than other drivers do. He did the best he could under the circumstances, and I'm sure those other guys realize that they won't be young forever either. He has always been a safe, fast , clean driver and I'm sure is respected for the things he has done.
