Next generation of 'Aliens'
Who will join or replace the current four? I'd go for Marquez and Folger of the current 125 guys, if either of them get on an Aspar bike then Bradleys going to have a very hard time if he stays there next year.
Of the 250 guys I think Simoncelli could get there on talent, but maybe application needs some attention? Thats all the Aliens I see, the rest are journeymen, although some very good, like Hiro. |

Bautista. But will he get to show it on a Suzuki? No.

Im not so sure, hes sort of tailed off in 250 since getting his Moto GP ride. Something about that worries me.

Yeah, but Stoner was up and down in 250s too. Maybe it's a bit of the bike and the team? Maybe he'll be more suited to the bigger, more powerful bikes. I like Simoncelli a lot but I still think Bautista is the more likely alien.

Today in 125cc practice, a young German by the name of Marcel Schrotter - aboard a Honda! - headed the time sheet for a lot of the session, finishing third I think by the end of the 60 minutes. Not bad for a rookie, and from what Toby and Julian were saying, he could well be another alien in the pipeline. He looked very good out there and I'm guessing Honda is not the bike to be on in 125cc.
Put that man on an Aprilia! |

I don't know the cast of characters as well as I should, but I would think anybody that is consistently quick (as in every session) is a good candidate. Then again, as noted, Stoner wasn't necessarily "alien" status in the junior categories. So who knows!

from current crop i think Simoncelli .. there's something about him and it's not only speed
Bradl was looking good last year .. nowhere this year Fogler started the season really great but faded .. just like Iannone so it might be bike settings |

Stoner did finish 2nd in 250's to Pedrosa winning 5 GP in 2005 & did give KTM there 1st 125cc GP win...
Marcel Schrotter has dominated the German 125cc Championship in the past 2 years - could be the next big German thing, Bradl seems to have faded this year... |

The thing that worries me about Simoncelli was demonstrated today - he threw it down the road again. Plus theres questions on his fitness, if he was fitter in Malaysia he might have finished 2nd...

Simoncelli always used to be a crasher until the latter stages of 2007, he stopped crashing and then thru 2008 and most of 09 he has been fine.
I would imagine if he was a Brit or a German or an Aussie he would not have lasted that long ad been in WSS or something, but someone kept giving him chances a al Alex Espargarot, Jules Cluzel et al. Remember too that Bautista was not that hot for two initial years And at the opposite end of teh scale Luthi was brilliant and has been awful for years! |

Think Simoncelli will crash a fair bit next season, but, he is fast & can learn not to crash which is better than being slow & not a crasher...
What bike is Hiroshi on next year? |
