North of England Single Seater Race Series 2005
Just flying a kite here, but I would like to gauge the support for a series of Northern races along the lines of the old Formula Libre.
If it is a single seater - but not FF1600 - it is eligible. Classes could be something like :- A) over 2000cc B) 1601-2000cc C) upto 1600cc D) over 1000c bike engined E) under 1000cc bike engined Venues could include Anglesey, Cadwell, Croft, Kirkistown, Knockhill and Oulton. |

Just pondering here - would the easiest thing to do be to take the same regulations as, say, BARC SE use and have a standard set of regional single-seater championships across the country?

Diz, there has been lots of talk about F3000's and euroboss being too expensive- why not allow single seaters up to 3000CC and see if any come out to play. I would imagine that they could be silenced.

My half penny for what it is worth...
Run a series on a loose set of regulations, allowing in as many cars as possible (not F3000 or Boss cars) and see how much interest you get. It may well work - but from my experience it seems difficult to get drivers excited about their own series, let alone a new one. But - I am a great believer in 'nothing ventured nothing gained'. The WHT grew out of an idea I had in the pub with a friend who didn't understand what I was on about, and look at it now.... |

You wouldn't see hall bends - they would just be a bump! Think the mountain sectio would be a bit narrow for an F1 (not sure you would even get round the hairpin?)?
Gooseneck, coppice and charlies would be fantastic though!!!!!!!! |

Cadwell has a 1800cc limit on the track licence for single seaters if my memory serves, HOWEVER, when necessary the MSA provides a track licence waiver to enable bigger engined cars to race there. So please check it out before you cross us off your list.

Has the class structure been decided yet? and is it likely to go ahead. We'd be very interested to run 2 Jedis, save trudging down to Brands, and almost everywhere else.

I think its a great idea it would really help the industry up this way if there was more racing accross the whole of the north. Over our way its a bit difficult to get passing trade for single seaters when nothing really runs at Croft and all the NWFF guys dont want to travel over the mig mountainous bit in the middle.

I think Croft is great and should be added to our Calendar.
From the centre of Manchester, it's 1 1/2 hours with trailer. Nearer than Anglesey, but I like going there as well. When we came to Croft back in 2000, we were really well received and well looked after. Get on it Diz. Can we have Croft on next years calendar. Remember when you first mentioned Anglesey and there was a lot of reservations. If your chasing a championship, then you need to go. Well, the same could be done with Croft. The problem with this years visit was it wasn't a Championship round, so nobody would go. |
