tech? if ou mean str then i'd agree with you. If you mean the defection of a technical director, rumour is a high profile person is switching.

Reason being the initials, doubt it though. |

BREAKING NEWS: Newey to join Red Bull
Adrian Newey is to leave McLaren and join Red Bull
A major coup for Red Bull McLaren will be fine too, Tombazis is doing good work there (No, I don't have a link, before anyone asks, but trust me...) |

Wow.
I mean, there has long been words that Newey isn't happy at Mclaren for all sorts of reasons, and that his departure is just a matter of when and where. But of all teams, i certainly wasn't thinking of RedBull. Redbull must have either offered him a great pay (unlikely, as Mclaren or a top team would probably offer just as much), or Redbull must have a special pull. Is it the challenge? Is it the working environment? or is it even Coulthard? |

Well he came close to joining them under their previous life as Jaguar so maybe it's just something about the team he likes the look of. It certainly looks from the outside as a more enjoyable workplace.

Will this also mean that there will be a Red Bull sponsored entry for the next America's Cup? I would say that Red bull could offer Adrian more challenges outside F1 as he was after.

The people who work for McLaren who I've spoken to in the past say McLaren is a great place to work.
However, at a technical director level, I think a new challenge is probably what Adrian needs |

He will be a loss for the silver arrows ans a big gain for Red Bull. With such an experience under his belt, I am sure that Red Bull have signed a big asset.

Hmm... i've just thought of 2 possibility:
1) as mentioned, perhaps REDBULL, with their great network of activities beyond F1, may offer A.Newey challenges in other areas. Hence, he will work a couple of years, and make a switch to another sports 2) ..which may seem a bit more crazy: Newey is quitting Mclaren to join another team..but there is a clause that forbids him to switch direct to another manufacturer team. Hence, he signs a short term deal with Red Bull before making the move over to the other team. It could be Williams..but williams doesn't have a manufacturer supporting. Who knows, it may even be to Ferrari (RedBull uses Ferrari engine, Rory is likely to retire after 2006). Or even to fill the void that Ross Brawn leaves after his Ferrari promotion. |

It might sound stupid to ask but that was a problem last time. Had Newey's contract with McLaren expired or has he been released from it by Mclaren?

Good news for DC I guess. Shame for Mclaren. Would Newey now have the possibility of testing out new aero items on the junior car, before putting them on the 'senior' RBRs?

can only be good news for redbull, and it would be great to see DC in an even better car, question is will he be there too late to have enough of an impact on the 2006 car?
by the way did bmw choose their other driver yet??????????????? I heard Sebastien Bourdais( not sure of the spelling!) was keen on F1, true indy drivers don't neccesarily make great F1 drivers but they could do Wurtz!! |
