Cart Vs. Texas
CART and Texas speedway guys will meet in the court... Bad for CART I quess. Which other tracks belong to the same group who owns TEXAS SuperSpeedway? And more... Vancover and Nazareth will be back in schedule... good or bad? How many races there will be in 2002 schedule?

The lawsuit seeks recompense for the track in sanctioing fees payed to CART and other damages. CART will most likely lose this case and be forced to settle.
Here are the tracks owned by Bruton Smith's Speedway corporation. Atlanta Motor Speedway Bristol Motor Speedway Las Vegas Motor Speedway Lowe's Motor Speedway Sears Point Raceway Talladega Superspeedway Texas Motor Speedway One of CART's future venues will be Las Vegas. This is now up in air but business is nusiness and if Speedway Corp. can settle with CART amicably then they will most likely attempt to hold a race there next year. The street race in Vancouver is a good race, but I know that CART has struggled recently with the city government and with some of the undesirable elements of the downtown location. |

A street race for Denver has been announced (which is the best news I've heard all year because it is only 1 hour from me!).
My guess is that with the give and take, they will end up with the same number of events as this year - 22 (or should I say scheduled events?). |

The plan as last I heard was to eventually run 25 races per year. The cut back on in season testing was done to accomodate this.

25 is FINE:)
I would like to see more CART races in one season too. In 2001 there's going to be 20 - surely no Rio and quite surely no Texas. Is there any change that they will drive in Texas this year now when Texas has suied CART!? Hope also that Eurosport continues to show CART races live in 2002 too. Finally, I really do love CART!

The more trouble that falls on Indycar racing the bigger Nascar gets. The fans get tired of all the politics.

I don't know of anyone who is going to watch NASCAR because Champ Cars is having a snake-bit season. Formula One had many seasons when it was painful to watch (that season when McLaren won 15 of 16 races, if you were not a McLaren fan, was one of these) but they still managed to remain the No. 1 Motorsport Series in the world.
For people who like NASCAR and dislike open wheel racing, it will doubtless be seen as a vindication of their tastes. Otherwise, I can't see what difference it makes. |
