f1 allstars race
anyone else think it would be a good idea to hold a non points scoring race where the drivers swap cars, the best with the worst and so on.
all the profits could go to charity and it would allow us to see just how good the drivers and the cars really are!!! is just a bit of funso no laying in to me about my completely ridiculous idea ok! |

Firstly kristof14, let me say this is a completely ridiculous idea
It would be fun, but sponsors would never allow it, teams would never part with that sort of $$$$$, and some of the drivers would not want to be found out As a specticle, it would be brilliant. They'd get my money. |

Unfortunately it would be too expensive to make any profit for charity, and no-one would want to risk other drivers learning about their rivals' equipment.
Something like a kart race ought to show who's really good and who's just relying on the car. |

it would be magnificent and would be a great race wiv lots of tv exposure - it would really be very good fr the sport...but can you see the kind of politics - with all of this secrecy in f1, no1 would risk it

Just have a non-Championship round. F1 vs CART vs IRL. Best of those series against each other.

They have something similar in the USA, the International Race of Champions - basically the 12 best, CART v IRL v NASCAR. They have a 4 race series in equally prepared Pontiac Firebird Trans Am stock cars. 1st race grid determined by ballot, henceforth grid is reverse order of championship standings. F1 used to send drivers over in the past, but not since the late 80s. I'm sure they could do something similar over here, F1 v GT v Tourers or similar, in F3000s or similar.
It works in America, why shouldn't it work elsewhere?? |

I think the closest we have to this is the Karting event they do in Paris at the end of the year with many GP drivers, recent events have been very interesting to see which drivers are highest up the field.

Kristof,
If you ever need a job in Australia, try AVESCO as they would LOVE this idea! What about a reverse grid race for f1? You know, it totally sucks when promoters try to make a circus out of sport. AJ |
