Help with Avon tyre compounds please
Hi all,
Just picked up a set of (bargain) crossply Avon full slicks, and the only reference marking I can find is ACB-0. I can't find any reference to it anywhere, does anyone know what it is intended for? I know ACB10 are FF tyres, but again I am struggling to find which kind of event they are meant for... Anyone? |

Am not familiar with ACB-0, have used ACB10 (FF) on my Starlet race car and still use them when I need a 520mm tyre to get my gearing where I need it.
We purchase them from the local Car Racing School and manufacturer partially worn, have you tried the Avon site for specs ? |

On the sidewall there should be a cast in number in a little oval undercut thingy. Probably a 5 digit, seemingly random number. Quote that to Avon and they'll be able to tell you about the tyre - compound, intended purpose, hot pressure starting point, and that sort of thing.

Thanks all, that's the conclusion I came to.
Found two panels, one with four letters and one with four numbers. I'll try Avon or BMTR on Monday. Cheers! |

All sorted, thanks folks!
Spoke to a very helpful guy at Avon this morning, and our random purchase turned out to be perfect for what I'm after. |
