Oulton Gate Locking?

Anyone else find the Oulton park staff are a little over keen in locking the gates at the end of the day?

I first experienced this when I was at Lakeside, my wife and children were in the car at Cascades (spectator side of the fence) by the time I arrived back at the car the gate was locked and I had to go through the paddock to race control then back onto the circuit to get out at lodge.

More recently I was at Old Hall, after we had tidied up the lodge gates were locked! and the pit lane entrance was about to be locked.

Anyone else experienced this?

Maybe carrying bolt cutters in the boot is the answer?

I often think of bringing the same so I can get into the Druids enclosure at Brands!

Thinking a bit more....

I`ve also known someone to go to a test at Brands earlier this year and get locked in by the gate behind the medical centre (having parked at Druids). Had to walk to the Motorsport Vision Centre (nee Foulston Centre!) and ask to be let out!!

you are 100% correct SRPhoto! doesnt half wind us up... even if you get to the gate when they are locking it they still dont let you through! even had same problem at start of day where some gates not unlocked so after driving round to your post you cant get off the circuit!

Nice to know I am not the only one fed up with it.

We all want to get home at the end of the day, but locking the gates as the cars cross the finish line is a little over kill! At least give us 15-20 min to tidy up and get on/off the circuit.

I wonder how we can get this problem solved?

This has been mentioned to the Asst Chief Marshal of the BRSCC NW.
May I suggest that if this continues to be a problem, you speak with her again on Saturday!

If it continues to be a problem, you get the marshalls to collectively threaten to remove their services.

NO YOU DON'T!

That won't help anyone, especially the Marshals.

As I have said above, the relevent person has been informed!

i was in the pit lane at the end of one meeting when a marshal came to the pit lane gate only to find the guy had just locked it,and was getting into his van ready drive away.the fact the guy now had to get out, unlock the gate, let the marshal in then lock the gate etc caused a few muttered words, one of which sounded like "anchor", pherhaps this guy was in the navy at some time, and the word is a naval saying?maybe clerk of the course should tell them to lock the gates at a set time..like 7.00pm

A new record for locking the gates at Oulton!

The gate at Cascades was locked today at 12.30pm.

They had to come back at 12.45pm to open it again and then relocked it at 6.25pm also locking the case in the observers box as the last extinguishers went in at 6.30pm. Someone really wanted to get home today!!!

SRPhoto, the circuit staff go clockwise. After I left Cascades Saturday, I passed the guy locking the gate between Clay Hill and Water Tower. Maybe the answer is for us all to ask MarshalGirl to post us to Warwick Bridge/Lodge/Deer Leep to ensure we can get out at a reasonable pace. Maybe the reason he was so quick was to prove to himself he was faster than some of the Ferraris we slept through earlier in the day!!

In the car?

I have no problem jumping the gate, but the problem occurs when the car is the wrong side.
