Ignition Coils
Got my Magnecor Leads on the way and even though we raced and won on last Saturday night the engine developed a light misfire toward the end of the race. Sooo, what Coils are everyone using and recommending. I'm just eliminating things one at a time. Current coil is a Bosch and yes it gets warm. Spoke with a chap today who is into drag racing, said his mate put two coils together, epoxied the one where the lead comes out and looped wired the Coils together. Reckons by having two sets of windings they picked up six kw at the wheels. What are your thoughts guys?...trikes

Have you tried closing up the plug gaps a little - will make it easier for the spark to jump if you are a bit marginal on spark energy from the coil.
As regards your coil, try wacking the Bosch part number into Google and see if you can find a spec sheet for it. That will give you a baseline for comparing alternative coils against. |

I am using a MSD coils with my cars along with the MSD ignition, seems to pull very clean with no missfires. Oh with that set up you open the plug gap way wide!

Ask a guy named Chris Shearle over there in the UK...
he races and prepares lots of historic stuff- TVR Griffins and bizzarini's...He is a absolute genious- if you can find him... big supporter of Canton Pans and Accusumps so maybe you can google him through there? I think he is an MSD guy too.. |

I closed the gap up from 1.0 to .8 during the Heats and that helped a bit...........trikes

I suggest using som sort of capacity discharge system that also take care of the coil charging time. Ignition type is electronic - no points. I'm looking for a reliable brand. GT I struck out looking for Chris......trikes
