Surtees Jnr...!
Just thought I'd share with you guys that having spent a large amount of my last year at the most excellent karting facility that is Buckmore Park, an F1 legends son is rising through the karting ranks quite rapidly: Henry Surtees. Remember the name - the boy's very quick (top 3 in Junior Rotax every race against superb opposition) and has sizeable backing from his father. Just a thought, but if I was a betting man I'd place a fair whack that the 13 year old WILL be in an F1 car within the next ten years - he's good, very good...
Cash + talent + connections = Going places! Oh yes, the 13 year old also won a Junior Rotax race infront of Bernie Ecclestone, when he opened the new clubhouse (that John S funded!) - good timing...! |

I've picked up snippets of his career in Autosport and I gather he's doing very well for himself. His connections should eventually ensure an F1 test, whatever.
Good luck to the guy. Maybe he can dominate the world on two and four wheels!!!! |

I'd heard the kid was doing well.
I might be wrong, but isn't John Surtees involved in Buckmore? Perhaps someone could confirm this. also this is the ideal opportunity to show that there is more to ten-tenths, motorsport and life than F1 (no really there is) Moved to the kart forum, I'll leave a re-direct here... HS is very quick, but 2 guys who have blown me away, and I’m fortunate to be mates with them are Super 1 Rotax Champ Dan Faulkner, and Junior Rotax Champ Chris Newton. The latter is in his 2nd season in karts and is already in JR Super 1! On his S1 debut at Clay Chris had only his 3rd run on his Tony Kart – was unlucky to finish 6th, but set the fastest lap – impressive stuff. The guy’s only 15 and is an approachable lad…plus he does beat Henry ;-)
HS is a constant top 3 runner everytime I’ve seen him run, and is very smooth – especially when he’s out front. Only Chris, the Project One runner MacDonald, and Ben Cooper look as fast. HS is very grown up for his age, he’s got a clever head on those shoulders… John has invested millions into the circuit, Bill Sisley (Owner of Buckmore) is very grateful of John’s input both financially and strategically – his contacts list is second to none! The clubhouse – worth £1 million, was funded by John! I admire him for investing in the sport. |

Does Bill still own Buckmore?
The new clubhouse is brilliant, only used it once, last summer but it was fantastic. Buckmore rose to the competition by Thruxtons new kart facility well. |

Mark, have you seen Chris Newton then? VERY quick, he's on a Tony Kart in JR S1 this season.

Paulzinho - Bill is very much the main man at Buckmore. The man is a superb businessman I greatly respect and admire. He’s turned Buckers into arguably the best and most prestigious kart circuit in the UK - it reminds me very much of Brands Hatch, and with Jonathan Palmers son joining Mini Max, we’ll see JP forging closer ties between the 2 venues – which can only be good for the whole of UK Motorsport.

Thats good to hear, Bill used to help out my Dad when he was racing in the 70's, he helped out Johnny Herbert quite a bit as well as I understand it!

There's a great pic of JH and Bill together on the Buckmore site - in the 'future of karting' PDF. Bill is a karting legend - he was quick himself too...

Buckmore a most excellent facility?? Must be joking. Compared to everywhere else in the country, over night parking fees and practise fees are much more expensive. Pits are stupid, they were far better before they re-modeled them about 5 years back. Walk half a mile to find some toilets which have always been sub-standard. Sorry i havent been there since the new building was built.
Dont get me wrong it has a great track. But compare the facilites with that of PF and they arnt too great. |

Tom, trust me mate, go there now the new facility has been built - it's a stunning clubhouse! They've built a very helpful paddock building, plus they are building a walk bridge and grandstand in the very near future - Surtees' money is being well spent - Buckmore is looking VERY good.

Yes. #15 TKM 4/ is right. The circuit is more like 1200metres. I think there are about 3 different lay outs though, the shortest might be more like 900m

If you add all three configuration together then you might get 1200m.

All circuit lengths are measured using the outside white line, buckmore is the same. The racing line length is around the 900m mark yes, but the official length is correct.
