GA To step up to BTC-T
GA have announced they have purchased two 2002 spec Astras from Triple Eight and they will run them in next year's BTCC. They also plan to field their Alfas again in the BTC-P or whatever it will be called next year, unless they are sold in the meantime.

Good news for GA if true. Do we know who will be in teh frame to drive? Pyper must be int he hunt for one. I suppose this means no Alfa team in 2003 BTC-T, as GA were being cited as a works team for them.
The other question is, are these going to be additional to the 6 Astras we saw this year, or will Triple 8, Egg and Barwell still be running their cars? |

Alfa are still strongly tipped to be making an appearance... they reputably made GA an offer to run their cars next year, so they are clearly interested in the series. GA turned them down but that's not to say another team wouldn't be interested in running them.
Ref the Astras - Vauxhall Motorsport have confirmed two cars but have yet to announce drivers - my tip would be Neal and Thompson. Triple Eight are hoping that Egg will renew but are looking at alternative sponsors, so hopefully we'll see those cars again too. And Barwell will, I'm sure reappear, as long as the Chilton money keeps coming. Expect Tom to have a new team-mate though... Aaron is set for Aussie V8s apparently, and I like the sound of his rumoured replacement... All in all it is looking very very good for 2003! |

I guess GA would be another independent team then, hope they use at least 2 of their drivers from this season to fill the seats. Good to see them still being in the production class as well, if they still have the Alfa's.

Who would Alfa run with? I thought GA were definatley on course for that one, well thats what Gary said on TV. Why would he turn down an offer? I think that would have been a safer bet than running 2 Astra's al la Barwell.
Perhaps tha Chilton/Edenbridge tie up goes a bit deeper than we first thought?! |

They are hoping to run Gavin Pyper which is understandable but I'd imagine they'd be looking for someone new to run alongside him.
Ref Alfa - I'm sure there are a dozen teams out there who would love to run them!! Maybe JSM will make a comeback ? hehe PS What Chilton/Edenbridge connection ?! |

I doubt Barwell could stay in the tourers without his money so unless another rich kid appears I can't see him leaving and Barwell staying. If he goes I think Barwell may go.

Other than the financial components of the contract being offered to GA was too low, why would GA turn a chance down to represent Alfa? Possibly as a Works or semi-works team? Too little factory support?

I don't think the Alfa Rumours are false. I'm sure they'll be in the series next year. Maybe Alfa GB will run the cars or someone external like HTML perhaps. Egg are likely to leave the series if GA run the 3rd pair of Astra's. Looks like Muller is off to the ETCC then if Neal is alongside Thommo.

If Nordauto are involved then there is a chance of some real stars driving the cars, but also, they could just palm of one of their extras like Bernadoni.

Don't understand why GA's entry would mean Egg's departure? GA will be running the 4th pair of Astras if Vauxhall, Egg and Barwell stay on. |

Yes, Triple Eight are supposed to be building a couple of new cars for next year so we would have a total of eight cars ready to race should finance be available.
Interestingly GA are said to have bought the Muller and Neal cars, rather than two from the same 'team' |

Reliability. The cars used to be real rustbuckets and got a bad reputation.
