Whats the deal with Cartridge World - is that official? I read the rumour on the official site.

PS thanks for posting up Hazard.

Pretty much so. As it stands at the moment!

It seems a bold move by Cartridgeworld. We will see this weekend who is there and who isn't.

I understand that Jones own's his own car ? So has he taken it back to be run by elsewhere (GR?) and taken Cartridge World with him.

The latest seems to imply that neither Jones or Shedden will compete again in 2009 with the CWCZR Leons. Again, it's a Facebook message that's been posted on btcc.net's forums, so it's a funny way of going about it.

Quote:
Cartridge World is disappointed to confirm that Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is unable to line up on the grid for the final three weekends of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), following the withdrawal of Team CVR (Clyde Valley Racing), the original outfit behind the carbon-zero racing team.

Cartridge World and both team drivers, Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden, have investigated various options to enable them to compete in the last three weekends’ races. However, they have concluded that this will not be possible, and therefore Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will no longer appear in the championship.

Cartridge World has expressed its disappointment that Team CVR has had to withdraw. As well as ensuring it always met its contractual obligations with Team CVR, Cartridge World offered the team access to specialists on its management team, aiming to create as beneficial a relationship as possible for both parties.

The method of announcing the news seems a bit odd but then the whole CW/CVR has been a bit strange at times. It's the first time I can recall that a sponsor has wanted to continue but the team has been unwilling or unable to do so.

If they really are as keen as it looks then I expect an orderly queue of team managers to be lining up at the Marketing Director's door as we speak.

Cartridge World would go well with some bio-ethanol Volvo C30's run by Triple Eight!

Like you say redshoes it does seem a odd way of announcing stuff and especially weird that there's no official story on the BTCC site.

Obviously, the circumstances the sponsors found themselves in, closure could be the only decision.

As for McMillan, they still plan to be out before the end of the season, but because of their ongoing engine issues they will have to miss Silverstone.

Sorry touringlegend, I am not the person to discuss the problems at the team on this open forum.

Suffice to say the decision taken by Cartridgeworld was the only sensible option open to them.. as a sponsor!

I just hope Cartridgeworld does not completely walk away from the BTCC.

Absolutely, they are just the sort of sponsor the BTCC needs. Maybe not a household name but a high street name and willing to do some trackside promotion at every event.

stedevil has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
4 Lacettis? Was the crashed 1 rebuilt or will 1 of the cars be an older spec (or will Nash be MIA again)?

Vaulkhard's was rebuilt after Snetterton and survived Knockhill.

The three RML ones are fine, all having won races recently - though in Nash's case he got disqualified from Snetterton, and didn't compete in Knockhill.

Rumour was he was going to compete in at least two of the last three races - but never said which. At the moment, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt but he may well be absent this weekend as well.

Ill be in the pits or startline area.

My favourite on the national circuit is the bank next to the med centre as u get to see the action into brooklands although becketts also has some good viewing.

I dunno the answer to the third bit as ill be there ridiculously early anyways

With the F1 on this weekend at Spa, I don't think it will be crazy-busy at Silverstone.

Hardly a secret as Liams Dad came on the fourm to set the situation straight and reveal, this was picked up by touring car times and run as an article. http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=3788

CVR a suprise, Jones owns the car so assuming he can find a squad to run it he could take the sponser with him, Cartridge World could easily put the sponsership on another car for the last three rounds if they are looking for exposure.

While facebook has been used as a source of information, Martyn Bell has stated he'll be back alongside Owy at Silverstone.

I think the plan is for him to compete in his 2 local races at Silverstone and Rockingham.

The CVR/Cartridge World split has been confirmed by Alan Gow on his forum.

According to him both drivers are looking to get something together for the rest of the season, but it may not (I'm guessing almost certainly not) happen for Silverstone.

A great shame, however assuming the sponsers still in they only have to find a team to run the cars.
