German A1GP drivers

Is it just me or are they dissapointing this year, "the hulk" in particular, i had the feeling a few people on the forum thought he was a shoe in for the F3 euroseries title, hasnt quite worked out like that has it, what does this say about A1gp though, is it a real guide to talent in the lower formula or is it all down to how good a team you have, Halliday and Kerr being two other examples.

AFAIRem we were arguing about his true potential. I wasn't impressed by his 2006 echivements, but he got call to do A1 because he is Weber's protege, as Scheider was and is. So I wasn't surprised when I saw him in. IMHO he wasn't and isn't the best and most talented young German out there. And he wasn't F3 ES favourite this year!

I think he's doing pretty well - just off the pace of Grosjean and Buemi who were the favourites rather than Hulkenberg, which is fair given they have a little bit more experience than him.

His pace has been good - his consistency hasn't though really. If he gets a second year, he'll win next year I'd imagine.

Some people would say 3 years in F3 is tantamount to career stagnation. Surely he would be better stepping up again to WS or GP2, as those cars are more similar to A1GP cars than Formula 3 cars. I'm surprised actually after winning A1GP he continued with F3 considering the difference between the two formulas.

In my opinion Hulk has been fast, merely had a mix of inconsistency and bad luck.

He's crashed (either his fault or others I don't know) quite a few times in race 1's, which has basically ended his entire weekend. In qualifying terms, he's performing fairly well, and when he does manage to finish race 1, he usually finishes high up.

He's not a Grosjean or Buemi, but I still think he can finish this year as high as 3rd.

This is only his 2nd season in F3 surely? He won FBMW Championship in 2005 - oh I see what you mean now, it'll be his third year next year. Even so, he is young enough to guarantee himself some silverware and move on I think.

He also finished behind Harald Schlegelmilch in 2006 and is now performing considerably better this year, although I admit that's probably a lot to do with ASM.

Ammermuller wouldn't be a bad choice, but I heard Vietoris would be the leading driver next year. And with Willy Weber in charge, I wouldn't be suprised to see Marco Wittmann turn up at some rookie tests.

If Weber sign Ammermueller under management role, we can see Vietoris/ Ammermueller pairing next year.

Bear in mind that Willi manages Scheider, Vietoris and Huelkenberg, previous A1.Team Germany drivers.

Anyone expect Schumacher on board?

It would be worth A1 whatever they could pay him to do that. The value of the series if Schumacher was driver...
