New tracks.

Just a simple question to fill in the gaps of the off season dullness.

If you could add one track to the F1 circus, which would it be?

If we are allowed old ones then Rouen.
Current ones? I like the Bathurst suggestion and I'll add Long Beach.

Agreed. I think another street track would be nice though. We don't want too many as the racing can be dull, but the challenge is so great it would be nice to see more than once a year.

Some of the best street circuits throughout time have been:

Montjuich Park - Barcelona (the ultimate street circuit)
Monte Carlo - Monaco
Long Beach - California
Adelaide - Australia
Surfers Paradise - Australia
Macau - (Not sure what country its called now)
Vancouver (the orignal circuit) - Canada
Toronto - Canada
Wellington - New Zealand

Some of those were traditional 90 degree street tracks, and some were beautiful flat out blasts with hills and crests (see Barcelona)

Ahh.. if only there were more street circuits in the world.

of course the old one, but my reason for kyalami in the first place is a bit selfish: I'd just love to visit a f1 race again...
and to wait for cape town is quiet a long shot.

but talking 'bout old tracks, my real favorit would be 'the ring'.

Check this out too

Besides those mentioned already (in no particular order, and who cares about being realistic! )

Gotlandring
Assen
Norisring
Mugello
Buenos Aires #15
Le Mans Sarthe
Other USA (Road Atlanta, Sears Point)
Other UK (Cadwell, Anglesey, Oulton)

Jason, you need to expand your horizons a smidge man, virtually 80% of races in the pre-war era were held on streets, stuff of legends. And where's Pau!?!?

No way Rio over Interlagos, the latter is miles better, one of the best tracks on the calender, inspite of its location, which only adds to its character But definitely Paul Ricard over Magny Cours, if only they can get some spectator facilities going.

And hell yeah to Knockhill and the Scottish GP!!! Any bets on who will be the first to break the 30sec barrier?

Don't think we should ever go over 20 races a year though. Still all behind the alternating idea.

Gotland-Ring

Going there end of July for a Trackday, should be fun.

I'd also add the following to the list.

Old Chimay.
Zandvoort (80's version)

Luke - clearly Knockhill is not going to ever host a Grand Prix - this is a fun thread. The actual track layout would make for a very dramatic race though.

And Knockhill being dropped from the BTCC was a fee issue, not facilities.

Surely you can see it is a great RACE track.
