First Time Winners
Who do you think will get their first win this year soonest?
In reality any of these drivers can actually get a win this year. Last edited by drewdawg727; 22 Apr 2006 at 20:19. |

It'll be either Meira or Patrick. Meira has got alot of experience and has been close before. Patrick has a good team behind her and when the car is running well, like Indy last year, can run with the guys at the front.

I voted Meira but if there had been a "none of the above" option I'd have gone for that instead. I'm not yet convinced any of them will be regularly challenging for victories, but Meira is perhaps nearest at the moment.

I respectfully disagree with the "None" assessments above.
Just for the Record: Vitor Meira finished 2nd in at least two races last year (including the Indy 500), had seven Top Five finishes and 11 total Top 10 finishes out of 17 races. He also had a strong 2004, with at least two 2nd place finishes that season. When Meira and Panther get even better acquainted during a lot of laps at Indy in May, they will set the stage for a very good, strong rest of the season. Vitor is the only one in that group that I think has paid his dues and has been on the verge of getting a win..... I hope that he does get a break and does bring home a win this season.... He is long overdue, IMO.... |

Would be great to see Vitor take a first win, as stated he has been close many times. He always seems to be the guy who loses rides he deserves to keep, so hopefully Panther will be a long-term arrangement for him. The Panther guys really deserve some success after a difficult off-season as well.

I decided to bump up this topic - all 4 of these drivers on this poll indeed have an equal chance at this point in time...

I don't think Matsuura will ever win.
I don't think Danica will win this year. You have to give Meira a shot, he's been consistently on the pace all year. However I think the top guys (Hornish, Wheldon, Kanaan, etc) have the psychological edge on him when it comes to the business end of the race. If I had to bet I’d say he won’t win this year. If AGR can prove that Milwaukee was no fluke then I think Marco has a good chance to win this year. He has shown he has the talent and self-belief to run at the front. I don’t think you’ll ever see him “move over” like he did at Indy again. |
