Btcc - Rockingham
Went to the Brands meeting and it was great fun...a shame though you needed a pass to get close to the cars and drivers and get a few autographs
Anyway, im hoping to go to Rockingham, I was wondering if anyone knows if your allowed to go down the paddock? Like they do at Silverstone, you can get loads of autographs and meet and talk to some of the drivers I'd be grateful for anyones help on the subject |

I've been to Rockingham to watch ASCAR and the public were allowed in the paddock and expect it to be the same for TOCA. There was a charge for Brands for safety reasons.
Rockingham has a large paddock and there are two pedestrian tunnels. There will also be a pitlane walkabout to meet the drivers. |

Ok, many thanks. Yea, I understand why some cant get into the paddock at Brands, but still a shame if you needed an autograph or two.

I dont know whether you can just walk into one of the BTCC team garages...i highly doubt you can. Unlike ASCAR, the teams in the BTCC have boards and things like that up to cover the cars...like you would normally see if you went to another BTCC race meeting. But i definately cant wait for them to go around the Rock! especially after the great Brands races!

despite the fencing at Brands the Touring Car guys were still very accesible. This was James Thompson virtually immediately after stepping from his car in Race 1 Monday. He saw some kids wanting autographs and jogged over to oblige. I t makes a huge difference in my eyes that kind of attitude.

Jimmy is a top bloke. You will be able to see the drivers in the paddock they are often wandering around. Access to the garages is generally not encouraged on race day but it just depends on the team. Its a bit more laid back on qualifying day.

Its so great the way you can just chat to the drivers! I've never spoke to James, but i've always been amazed by the willingness of most the drivers to have a chat with the fans. its one of the many reasons that makes the BTCC better than f1.
