More on Tracy Status

Link

Quote:
Contacted by The Sun, Forsythe public relations specialist Joe Kirklin was adamant that Tracy would be with the team in 2006 and even 2007.

"Paul has a multi-year agreement with Forsythe for this year and beyond," Kirklin told the Sun. "We look forward to continuing to battle for the championship this season and winning more championships with Paul in the future."
I didn't know that.

I had heard that he had an offer to renew with Forsythe, as well as Team Canada wanting him to drive in A1GP (not necessarily a problem for his CC commitments)

One rumour regarding an eventual A1GP appearence for Tracy is that he would drive in the races at Fundidora Park and Laguna Seca.

This TSN article about Tracy's invitation to A1GP seems to contradict Joe Kirlin's quote in TedN's opening post.

Tracy, whose contract is up at the end of this season with Forsythe Racing...

Seems Tracy is looking at making his NEXTEL Cup debut with RCR at Atlanta later this year - [link].

If he does really well in NASCAR a drive might open up there, although he might choose to just do a few Busch races (and perhaps a few Nextel rounds later in the season) alongside ChampCars for next year - guys like Christian Fitipaldi and Michel Jourdain jr have found it difficult to break into NASCAR.

I would suggest there is a big difference between PT and these two.

PT is likely going to a better team as well.

Indeed - Fittipaldi joined Petty Enterprises when they had hit their absolute rock-bottom in terms of lousy performance, and while Jourdain Jr. did join a championship winning Busch Series team they ran out of sponsorship.

And yes, RCR is a lot better team, with a lot more stable finances as well.

Conflicting reports abound. This article claims that "Gerald Forsythe says he's got Tracy under contract for next year."
