Still some places left!
Should be a decent one this year as its around Yorkshire with Cadwell,Croft etc, etc, Not the stupid Rally Stages from last year and all that traffic. They are allowed one crappy year in seven and that was last year! |

Weather forecast not looking so great for this week but it will be good to have them back in Yorkshire. I think I'll be at Croft and Cadwell, not sure where else.

Tour Britannia Update and Images
I can confirm that the weather is awful but it does shake things up so that as of last night Roger Kilty in his Escort RS 1600 was second to the Phil Hindley/Andy Bull Porsche 3.0 SC. The road registered Radical just has to be seen on a special stage to be believed as does the Manuel Ferrao Ferrari 275 GTB. Great thing is everyone is going for it. Full placings at TSL while we have updates at R/S, yesterday will be up by 09.00 this morning.

Results Tour Britannia and images
Its all over and Phil Hindley and Andy Bull retained their lead to win by nearly two minutes. Second was a very hard driving Roger Kilty with Lynette Banks in the Ford RS 1600 Escort. Stuart Scott took his Camaro to third after the Cooke/Dowd Porsche RSR succumbed to rear suspension problems. Pics of top three cars. full report on www.retro-speed tomorrow. Goodness me it rained!

Always amazed the way people report these things.
You mention the top three cars in speed event. No mention of regularity or handicap which are at least as important. Porsche 3 0 won the speed event,Porsche 2.2,Macau winning car, with Mel Raven and Jez Haylock the regularity and waiting for Handicap winners. Event needs things other than real and pretend Porsches to win things and people should remember there are three sections to all these Tours. |

I have to agree with you John regarding reporting on the category winners. I am not having a pop at Peter but most of the magazine reports that will follow. Having won the Index of Performance 2 years ago in one of the rarer cars to have done the event the result was almost invisible to most of the press! Actually, the Index doesn't even feature on the TB website results as a category this year, so hopefully it still exists? As you say, could do with less 911s in Competition, but they are potential winners, so can't blame the owners... Where were the 26Rs this year? |

The Escort that was second in scratch won the Index/Handicap.Well done against those large engined Porsches.

Having just returned from Snetterton where the 3hr Guards race is taking place later, think have answered question as to why all the Elans were missing from entry! Must have cost a few starters having TB immediately before. |

The reduced entry was caused to a certain extent by clash of other events and last years outing being without doubt the worst in the events history.
Certainly Alec Poole knows of the problem and this year intended getting back on track.Understand it has gone well despite the appalling British weather. The event needs to flourish but June brings crappy weather so why not revert to early September. The competition Porsches 911's are not always what they seem!Always based on a real car!Just to many of them as they are the easiest to prepare/use on an event such as this.Tour Auto is in the happy position of being able to ration the number but Alec needs the entries. The Porsche that won the Regularity I do know a bit about. It's the winning Macau GP car driven by Teddy Yip.Very Historic car (but I would say that as I own it) Jez has now won the TB regularity bit five times. Melissa had never done any type of Motorsport before. Not a bad first try! Back to North Wales next year or the Midlands base? |

Like that Rapier.
Seem to remember Andrew Hall doing Tour Auto competition category in one. Something I always wanted as remember driving one in early 60's when I was thinner. |

A man after my own heart. I prepared a Rapier Series 111A for historic rallying and competed on the Monte Carlo Challenge organised by Philip Young. It was the GTi of it's period. Comfortable, disc brakes and with a little fiddling, overdrive on all four gears plus reverse. |

Yes, I like the Rapier too, although I like the predecessor, the ST 90 even more. It won't come as a surprise to J R, however, that the DB2 hits the spot, though he has never understood my predilection for Feltham Astons.
