Mighty Minis - Brands Hatch - 24th June

Right,

This may be a little early, but I'm going to start the ball rolling anyway.. The Mighty Mini circus moves to Brands next.. The dates we have are 23rd/24th of June, but we're only doing one race, so I'm not sure at this point whether we'll be qualifying on the Saturday or not - I'll post again when I have confirmation..

Also on the bill are the Formula Saloons! Not sure what else yet though - but it should be quite a package

As far as I can tell from various calendars, there's nothing else on that weekend, so there's no excuse for any of you to miss this one, and distance doesn't count

What do you lot reckon? Can I get some of that B&Qsi support?? Can't offer any caps yet though

I reckon that the 10 Tenths caps will do it, Chris... I'll bring some along in case anyone wishes to make a purchase on the day...!

So, I guess, yep, i'll be there... for sure! Can't wait

BTW, I have Powertour down at Castle Combe that same day, so the numbers may be slightly down as the Combe faithful will likely stay at home

Oh no, this is the day after one of my friend's birthdays (one of the people who came out for my birthday to London and I was a bit worse for wear for your first race?)

So put me down for a 90% definite (I know you and Maisie will only talk me into it)

Will Steg be there?

Lorna, Steg says he'll definitely be there if you will

Also Brands looks likely to be the offical debut of the revamped camper van, which finally fired into life at 6pm yesterday. And mighty chuffed I am too! No reupholstery yet though, so depending on getting an MOT, I may bring it to Silverstone for a run out, but not in anything like finished condition.

Lorna, that was Chris' second race...

Chris, do you think it will help that you've raced at Brands before - the first time you've returned to a circuit if i'm not mistaken ? Is a win on the cards ?

It's no good Chris, you are going to have to speak to people about getting this calendar sorted out. Haven't been to Coombe for years so was looking forward to going there for the PowerTour. Plus it would give me a chance to visit my sister, which I've been promising to do all year.

According to my list the Brands meeting includes Mono Championship (??), Sports 2000, Radical Bi-Duro, Formula Saloons, Alfa Owners Club, 2CVs, T-Cars, Mighties/Super Mighties and Legends.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

Excellent - 2CVs as well as Formula Saloons

Les, I think you should come anyway - it's only testing at Snetterton after all..

It's not testing that's the problem - it's the washing, ironing, shopping and sorting the house out after a week of two bored moggies with nothing better to do than bring in 'things' and then throw up everywhere .... and all before Amanda & Alan arrive.

Put me down for a place in the hospitality tent please. Not too near the live band and close to the wide screen TV if possible (Is there a GP that weekend ??)

You will have to remind me nearer the time as I tend to forget these things.

The details I have for this meeting are:

Alfa Romeos (2 Races), Radical Bi-Duro, T-cars (2 Races), Ledgends (3 Races), Kent County Formula Ford, Mighty Mini, Super Mighty Mini, Sports 2000 (2 Races, Last chance qualy, qualyfication race?), Mono 1600, Formula Saloons (2 Races), 2CV Challenge, Pickups.

That is all I have at the minute. Please let me know if there are any additions/deletions.
The Formula Saloons look good - the old Touring Cars of the 1990s, Cavaliers/Sierras, and some of the outlawed turbocharged etc cars sometimes turn up. The Mono 1600 race is renamed from the Monoposto series catering for any single seater car, as long as it is not run by a factory team, with the emphasis placed on 'home-builds'. The T-Car races should be great too (I have to say that - I work for them!!!), so I shall be down on Sunday.... I think??? (or whenever the T-Cars are on. ENJOY.

Yep.. And Sports 2000, especially if they go on for an hour like they did at Combe that time. Eurgh.

Put me down for a place in the hospitality tent please.

I can manage a place in the hospital, but BHLG says we're not allowed to organise our own hospitality without asking them So I'll put up a tent and lay out some food, but if anyone asks, it wasn't me

You will have to remind me nearer the time as I tend to forget these things.

Don't worry, I will

This is the first time I have revisited a circuit that I've raced on before (next time is CADWELL!), well spotted Mr. Antill I will be looking to do well there, although driving the Mighty is a bit different to driving the Se7en (less braking for one thing).

I'm wondering if I'll be able to make it round paddock without using my brakes...........

Chris Y - I think you are talking your book ! There is one other meeting on Sunday 24th.....the 50th anniversary of Snetterton meeting run by the AMOC - its a big 'un and the CSCC have a special 20 lapper for all classes amalgamated into one race - which should be great fun - so I think most of us CSCC boys will be there ! Anyway the very best of luck - one thing I learnt at Brands the weekend before last was to turn into Graham Hill Bend much much earlier - well it worked for me.......

I'll be there Chris! I'm suffering a bit of a racing withdrawal at the moment, and I've already missed one Mighty Mini's Round so far, so I definately can't miss Brands...

Cool! Formula saloons too! Should be a good weekend.

Can't wait now...

It's the day after my birthday and the day before I fly back to the UK for two weeks of sheer frustration because my car won't be ready. Guess I'll just have to go fishing.

Good luck Chris.

THR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Mono championship is two races. one with 2000 + 1800 formula single seaters, ex formual renault, formula vaukhall, FF etc.
the other is for small 1200 bike engined cars, Jedi's mainly.
very quick slicks and wings series.

proper racing, none of this saloon rubbish!

there is another event in anglysey that weekend for the BARC Formula Renault, BMW's and some other things.

Just popping this up a bit

It now appears from a provisional schedule that the Minis and 2CVs (and Radicals) will be racing on the Saturday (23rd).. The bigger races (Sports 2000 and F.Saloons) will qualify on the Sat., and race on the Sun.

This is of course a right pain in the arse for at least 2 people I know who work on Saturdays... Grr!

SL, you want hospitality ?? We can offer that... but we need a few more victims...

We can get a box with VIP parking, TV coverage, free programme etc. for around 300 quid - the cost to be shared equally. So, if we can get 20 peeps it will be 15 quid a head, for 15 peeps it'll be 20 quid, etc...

Anyone up for it ? Seems an ideal way to chill out and relax after an exhausting weekend at Le Mans the weekend before...
