According to Malcolm Wilson in Nov. '99, a brand-new Focus, built by himself in Cumbria costs £375,000. There was a cost breakdown in 'RallySport' magazine. The most alarming item cost is £15,000 for a clutch! For a clutch?

Could be worse on cost really, and 15,000 is cheap compared to a F1 clutch. I remember a Ferrari F40 crashing in Targa Tasmania, and the cost of just the petrol cap was $1,000.

Apparently a F2 Kit Car can also cost in the region of £250,000 a throw, one of the main reasons for the demise of the category, especially in the BRC. With development costs not being dramatically different it doesnt make sense for a manufacturer to save a few pounds and enter the lesser categorys when then can build a WRC for not a lot more and get a lot more exposure as a result.
