AMRS Round 2 (merged)

Just got this on the email

entries for round 2

tcc = 21
thunder sport = 15
f4000 = 10
ptcc = 11
kingswood = 19
BMW E30 = 17
lotus 500 = 18

Interesting numbers - compared to the last time each of these categories ran at Wakefield:

TCC - Nov 2005 - 24 (down 3)
PTCC - no real comparison except for the PTCC early 2005 - 15
F4000 - 13 (the real quesiton should not be how many entered, but how many front to race 1.
Kingswoods - Nov 2005 - 20
BMW E30 - pinch from the VMRS so no comparison
Lotus 500 - last time MoPro ran the event (2003) - 24 cars - surprisingly Wakefield were very public in their 'They will not run that event at this track again' - I believe there even threads here, and talk around NSW, that some of MoPro's cars had been 'confiscated' by Wakefield (and QLD Raceway) for 'monies owing' - GTR, you have those details don't you?
Thunder Sport - depends on what yu want to compare them to. If last Nov's meeting ) Hossack et al - 14 cars.

Might be worth the trek down this weekend after all.
Disappointed they had to borrow the E30 series from Vic - but I'm sure the BMW boys will be happy to grab the opportunity. Can anyone tell me what the racing is like in the BMW series?

Only 18 Lotuseseseses is a worry. How many will still be hauling after 228 laps?

The 2003 event saw 16 finishers in a combined Daewoo and MG F field from an original 24 entries with 23 starters - 1 MG DNS, 2 MG's DNF and 5 Daewoo's DNF'd. However due to the idiocy of that event it only went for 6 hours or 198 laps instead of the scheduled 228 laps.

I dare say the Lotuses would be a touch more reliable than the Daewoos..... the old Lanos' were pretty tired and ratty by 2003....even more so now

Are the entry lists online yet? I'm curious to see who makes up these numbers.

I would then think the Stockcars and the OZBoss are dead in the water(shame about the Stockcars), then the AMRS series will probably last till July-Aug by my calculations.

tsk, tsk Robert. With the AMRS you are dealing with Mick Ronke, Bob Jane, John Tetley, Gary Willmington, Rod Dale. etc, a more determied bunch of blokes you will not see.

Peak Revs...my prediction is Jul-Aug, so far two catergories do not exist after one catergory,(Stockcars) Sam Dale said were supposed to be getting a lot of enquiries. The rest of the bill looks very poor indeed.

Aren't some of the categories alternating between rounds? I know the Ozboss don't start until round 3.

Yes but the Stockcars were supposed to be on this round AFTER bring delayed from the First round....not good.

Ahhh but Mick Bob and John are only in it as promoters - they have nothing to lose but another weekend they can hire the track out to someone else.

Willmington is there as a partner but also as a Wakefield Rep.

Dale is the one who has most to lose and by all accounts from earlier GTR postings this amounts to a lot!

You may be right in Bob, Mick, Garry and John being the promoters, but they also have a vested interest through the sanctioning body. It is their best interest that this series grows, just look at the VMRC for sheer determination if you are looking for a precedent.

Granted - forgot about that aspect of it.

Although it still rests more heavily on Dales and, to a lesser extent, Willmingtons shoulders rather than the other three - after all - if the AMRS fails, there is nothing to stop any of those circuits picking up the pieces for themselves, is there?

As a side question - given the history with Oran Park - why isn't Tony Perich and Oran Park involved in this?

Early 2005?? the series only started racing this year. one race calder.

Should be interesting as there is a 2 aflas entered a 147 GTA and a 156, a proton satri 2 honda integras.

Missing is Meidecke, he doing targa this weekend. and GRAY whos team has a comittment at sandown.

Correct - this is a new series and, as such, there is no direct comparison with any previous fields BUT the Australian Production Car Championship would come closest and they were the figures I quoted for last year.

Although Calder's round of this PTCC series wasn't exactly earth shattering, was it (and yes I can hear the replies now - not everyone was ready - but stop and think about this for a minute - we keep hearing this same old argument every time 'We didn't have the car ready', 'the engine wasn't back' - and then we get to the end of the eyar and guess what? the excuses become 'We are getting ready for next year').
