WOW!

Great shot...I'll bet Nigel had to change the driving suit after that ride. I'd have grabbed a couple of cold beers and called it a day.

Actually, Nigel was in hosptial that night, and would have to have extensive surgery on his back.

But then in his first oval race start he nearly won, and had he had some more experience on restarts, he probably wouldn't have finished third in the 93 Indy 500...

But I'll never forget that day on the Gold Coast in 93, with Nige hanging out the window of the recovery truck after his car ran out of gas on the cool down lap... great stuff

Typical Mansell though - high drama but gutsy all the way. To think he won four oval races that year when everyone said he would struggle on them - he won at Milwaukee, Michigan, New Hampshire and Nazareth, four completely different types of oval. And he so nearly won Indy...
