SPORTING BEARS " DREAM RIDES FOR KIDS "
Sporting Bears Motor Club at Aintree Liverpool
Liverpool Motor Club is helping the Sporting Bears Charity (Sporting Bears Motor Club - SBMC) with its "Dream Rides for Kids" event again this year - on Sunday 2nd September at Aintree. Normally, SBMC raises money for local children's charities by giving the public rides in all sorts of exotic cars at events around the country in exchange for a donation to charity. It raised thousands of pounds for its supported charities last year 100% of which was donated to charities that look after disabled and/or ill children. All overheads are covered by the members or individually sponsored. Now, it's time to provide some direct fun for the kids once again! On Sunday 2nd September, SBMC members will be bringing their cars to Aintree to give the kids "Dream Rides" on the circuit. Many of the kids are disabled, several terminally ill, so what a fantastic day out this will be for them. As our contribution to this most worthwhile day, Liverpool Motor Club will be looking after the activities on-track, so we need at least a dozen people to keep the circuit under observation. A dozen free buffet lunches have been sponsored for our marshals but I'm sure you will understand that on this occasion no travel expenses will be paid. Can you come along and help out? Most observer/marshals can sit in their cars and will really only be making sure that everyone gets round safely, and that the course controller is informed about any cars that stop/break down. As those of you who were there last year will already know, this is an incredibly worthwhile event. Even if you are only sitting at the side of the track watching the cars go by, your contribution will be tremendously important for the safe running of the day. Will you be there? I hope you can come along and help. To volunteer contact Pete by Email rcwcom1@yahoo.co.uk Lets help make this a day that the kids will never forget. The more marshals, the greater the possibility of this happening - but no guarantees! Marshals signing on is from 08.30 to 09.30, but you may wish to arrive early in order to have a good look at the cars before you are required to go track-side. If you can only help for part of the day, you are still most welcome. If you were there you know how much this meant to everyone, the charities said it was the best event they have ever been involved in, drivers went home with tears in their eyes and hugged their own children, marshals enjoyed great fun and helpers were just brilliant at getting everyone seated in 40+ amazing members cars! This was only possible thanks to CES and Autosessive sponsorship, check out www.cesuk.com and www.autosessive.com and to everyone who helped on the day. NEC Dream Rides Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zB3J5RYra4 - get an idea what we do at Dream Rides. The "Bears", as we are affectionately known, are a dedicated group of classic car and sports car enthusiasts with one primary aim - To raise money for Children's Charities through our own social and touring events, and to support other charitable events. It is to the club's credit that annual subscriptions support the club overheads thus allowing all monies raised from events to be directed towards the selected Charities. Since the Club was formed in 1989 we have been very active and have raised over 800,000 for children's charities in the UK. ยป Last edited by Pete LMC; Today at 12:11. Reason: contact details |
