alfasud should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Alfa Romeo 159 and BMW E90 3 Series for 2006 WTCC or not?

Alfa is replacing the 156 with the 159 and BMW is replacing the E46 with the E90, but the 159 is bigger and heavier than the 156 and the E90 is bigger and heaver than the previous 3 Series (E46).

Does anyone know when the 159 and E90 will be introduced to WTCC... or would they consider using one of their smaller cars? For example the BMW 1-Series.

Hasn't BMW made it publicly known they have delayed the introduction of the E90 touring car version for a year in order to spend more time developing/tuning it? I don't know about the Alfa 159? Could it return again as a Works touring car?

159 is bigger . but look at the Honda . is even bigger i think .
the Honda is 4.83 m
the 159 is 4.66 m

with the 159 we migght have a "problem" . will it be FWD or RWD . cause alfa sells the 159 also with 4wd . can they do like Lambo ?? and power the racing version to the rear wheels ??

I thought Alfa was going to use the 157?

Addendum: Ignore me, looks like they've renamed the 157 the 159 while I wasn't paying attention.

Yes, there will be an Alfa 159 S2000. Read this interviev with Tarquini (italian - use babelfish or sth). It was also confimed during WTCC previev on Eurosport.

Dani - I don't think there will we 4WD, 2 litre 159, AFAiK Alfa is going to use it only in 3.2 V6 and...diesel versions. So, S2000 will also have to be FWD

Dunno about BMW - but I bet they will be with us next year with new 3 -series.

Alfa will use the 159, and BMW the new 3 series. They are heavier then before, so BMW asked FIA the permission to use a carbon fiber roof. FIA said no, and so they proposed to raise the minimum weight for all the cars. But Alfa doesn't wants because a FWD suffers more from weight raising than a RWD, and BMW would be advantaged. They'll find an agreement soon i think

Or BMW will threaten to quit if they don't get what they want? Or perhaps I'm a bit cynical now
