Brundle's Grid Walks
We know very well that on his 'Grid Walks', Martin Brundle get's some good interviews of many a driver, plus a few celebrities - but now there's one person who won't be taking to Martin.
According to the Daily Mail, Mr Michael Schumacher has refused to talk to Brundle since he once criticised the German's starting technique. Ouch. |

I think he's talking about the famous "Schumacher Chop" at the start.

Getting a few words with Ralf was quite good, as Ralf doesn't like to do grid interviews.

It was funny with Rio Ferdinand having to admit he was banned from driving his road car.
Actually, Martin can think of some good questions when he is on the spot. |

now that i think of it, Eddie Irvine should not get involved in ITV, especially the grid walkabout. Remember when Brundle stood on that woman's foot and was very polite about it before talking to Ronaldo - can you imagine our lad Irvine in that situation. He would do 5 minute long interviews with the pit babes and not bother with any of the drivers.
Not that many in F1 would go one on one with Eddie on live television.... |

My favourite was a couple of years ago, I think at the Canadian GP, when Bryan Adams was there on the grid and Martin was searching for him but they were running out of time. Finally Brundle spots him down the other end of the grid and has to shoot off, camera man in tow. When he finally gets there he says "Bryan, Bryan! Sorry - Had to run to you"

Anyone who watched the 2000 season will testify that Schueys starts are somewhat **** and it is fascinating watching his car chop across the grid, endangering everyones lives! I say this as a Schuey fan!

Brundle was a real find for itv. I'm sure everyone remembers the appalling Jonathon Palmer on BBC's coverage. |

I have mixed feelings about this.
If I were a driver, the last thing I would want to do is talk to anyone when Iws about to get into a race car. As a fan, I think they are wonderful. Of course none of this matters because we dont get them in Oz. |

I like to see the interviews of F1 people on the grid, but Ican absolutely understand if drivers to not wish to be interupted: all they have to do is say no, and Martin respects them when they do (as one would expect).
However, of late, the increasing tendency to speak to "stars" of other genre irritates me. It would be fine if one of them was a genuine fan of the sport, and so could say something interesting about it; but when they just aren't, or, in our case, unable to speak English - then it gets a bit stupid, to my mind. I might be taking it all far too seriously, though. |

Profanity FM most times! Plus Niki Laudu's "Accendental" use of the wrong English words while being interviewed were funny soon. *Warning, F1 Digital abscence-regretting line approaching...if you're fed up with people saying they miss F1 Digital, look away now!* It's one of the things that I really miss about F1 Digital +, the comedy (not all of it was swearing either) Sure Brundle (and ONLY Brundle) can raise a smile with a wry comment or two, but it's not the same! *F1 Digital lamentation over, it's safe to come back in the thread now! * |
