What is Eddie Irvine doing these days?
I havent heard a thing since early 2002. I remember he offered to drive for Jaguar for free and they still turned him down. Now that has to be an insult!

Last year it was reported he had a net worth of 170 million pounds. I don't think we'll need to worry about him missing a meal anytime soon.

I didnt think he was on that much money.. maybe his 5 seasons from 1998-2001 he earnt a fair bit, but 170 Million pounds doesnt sound right. I didnt think he was on that much money at Jaguar and not even initially at Ferrari ? |

Eddie made very little out of Formula 1 (compared to a good driver...), most of his money comes for smart investments (property etc)

Really ? what kind of investments ? anything well known ?
Usually the saying is "to make a small fortune out of formula 1, you have to start with a big one".. i think this time its the other way around !! (what is it with the irish always doing things backwards ) |

Now he's in Florida, Miami. I'm sure he destroied him self last week in misic festival's week!!! He bought the house of Ricky Martin a couple of years ago: dealing the price with him and not reaching a conclusion, in the end Ricky sold the house to him for the money he wanted and also plaied 2 "private" concerts there with him and many, but exclusive, guests (basically only models)... |

According to a recent rich list Eddie earned a cool £40 million from formula one and is now worth £153 million. The guy has a fantastic life style and is more or less living out every single mans dream.... fair play to him. He has opened an indoor kart racing track in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Myself and a few mates went there a couple of months ago and its a fantastic place. There is alot of his helmets and cups on display which is really cool to see.

Its good to hear the swerve is surviving on the fruits of his labours, I and a few others enjoyed a meal with him and the Jag team the last time he raced in Aus, I think it would be fair to say that he is/was the last of the playboy racers.

Lets hope he doesn't do a "Hunt" and blow it all and end up a total drunk getting thrown out of night clubs...

He was in the news recently over one of the clubs he owns in Ireland which is bleeding money, apparently it's all got a bit messy.
Not that it probably matters much, he's earned a fortune developing houses in Miami, he can practically smell an investment oppertunity a mile away. It's a shame he's retired now as he truly was the last of the old breed playboy racers. Last edited by Silk Cut Jaguar; 6 Apr 2005 at 13:56. |

And a truly under-rated driver at that.

Eddie Irvine...
A gentleman, a businessman, a mad man and a very fast and very very intelligent racer...People might not believe it, but he did teach Schumi a thing or two in his time at Ferrari!! Which the "master" will admit! This man would have made his millions, f1 driver or not. Possibly the most intelligent person (driver that is!!) F1 has ever seen.. And thats in a general sense, not a racing sense!! He deserves to enjoy it all now after the years of hard work. Well done Eddie, you deserve it mate!! |
