MichaelC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Goodwood Festival of Speed

OK, so it's a while away yet, but events like this don't happen every couple of weekends. Who's going, which days, and where are we all meeting up?

Me, all 3, the bar...? Does anyone know about camping on the estate ? Alternatively, maybe we could stay somewhere in Chichester or Bognor ?

I'll be going, hopefully for all three days
With regards to accomodation, most places last year said that they book up a year in advance for the Festival. I've not even got round to thinking about where to stay yet.

For those that are wondering, it is on 6 - 8 July and I may just come along for one day as I have never been before.

Oh Christ!!!! Goodwood is sort of the opposite side of the country to me. I thought I'd be able to drive down Friday, stay Friday night and Saturday night, and go home Sunday evening. I kind of figured that hotels would be pretty busy, but I guess I'd better start looking now then!

No I'm not going to even consider camping. It's an activity for crazy people

Think I can beat you in distance planned to travel to get to Goodwood. Last year I thought the hotels etc would be a bit busy, but was amazed to find everything round about booked up. If need be, I'll drive there from Winchester every day.

I presume we need to book tickets then ?

From talking on Saturday, I think you can add TimD and Danielsun to the list. Probably Invader too ? Anyone else ?

As for accomodation, i'd suggest perhaps enquiring about camp sites in the Littlehampton/Bognor/Chichester areas...?

The camping idea sounds good to me Just make sure we get a civilised campsite because if I can't get a decent shower I will not be a happy bunny...you have been warned.
Count me in for a weekend ticket

Well I'll be there, probably Fri and Sun only.

As for accommodation, I would suggest Bogner Regis as the better bet. For a start they have a huge Butlins that would probably do cheap weekend rates plus a whole host of B & B places. There is also Brighton just another 30 minutes up the road.

Can anyone remember how much this is going to cost? That section of the Goodwood website doesn't seem to be working

Count me in for the weekend too, as long as I cand find a hotel to stay in. I could well be the only Scout leader in the world who hates Camping with a realy, deep rooted passion. I am not sleeping in a field for anyone or anything.

I guess this means I'd better do something about booking a hotel PDQ then...

I suspect I shall probably do my usual Goodwood trick of three day-trips from London in succession. It's actually not an unpleasant drive, and not at all tiresome.

Well, not terribly tiresome, anyway.

THR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i was thinking of going but cant decide if its any good or not

im not that interested in anything over 15yrs old.
its not a proper hillclimb.
the national hillclimb big boys would beat the F1 cars easily.

and its a 5 hour drive from where i live.

but there are lots of cars, and u can get close.
oh and the other thing being its 27 quid!!! for race day

and most of the cars are listed for "demo" runs only. meaning they arent timed!!!

so convince me, y is it so good?

Well, Goodwood is almost upon us, so I thought it was about time this one came back up to the top!

As a comparative newbie on the board I only know names not faces and I'm sure others who are going are in the same position. I'll be there Friday and Saturday this year (I only made Friday last year, but it was worth it just to see that Indy Maser smoke off the line!)

Craig suggested "the bar" as a meeting place - that's all very well, but there are about eight!

So - who's going?

I know I had said I was going, but now it's looking unlikely. Work commitments and I've also decided this motor racing lark is just too expensive Shame as I was looking forward to going to Goodwood for the first time since 1996.

I guess we better think about organising some tickets... Probably going to do just the Saturday and Sunday now and drive down each day. Can't really afford much more after this weekend just gone...!

Anyone know how we go about booking tickets ?

Craig:

Online ticketing:

http://www.goodwood.co.uk/

or by phone (+44) 01243 755055

The online ticketing doesn't make clear that Friday grandstand tickets are rovers and you can use them in any stand at any time. Almost all Saturday stand tickets have gone, although I got a good seat in the startline stand today: for some reason that's the last one to sell out.

Some of the replies to this post have been verging on Invader levels of disgusting!!
Now I can get single days off for things like BTCC or the Minardi day at Donington, but a weekend away isn't something I'd ever get away with now!! So despite being all enthusiastic a while back, it suddenly looks like a no-no for me

No I'm not under the thumb...OK maybe I am...but it is kinda fun!
