I am trying to authenticate a race car believed to be a Brabham BT18 with a chassis number BT18/222/1966 with a BT-15 Ford 711M motor. If I send some pictures can someone help me out? thanks steve

Welcome sjm. I'm afraid that it has become a bit quiet in here, lately, but someone may come along and help out. I assume that you have read through the BT18 thread in this forum.

SJM44,
It may be a Brabham underneath however a LOT of things are wrong. Chassis number , where is this located ? it is not a correct Brabham Chassis number. Rear uprights are very much not Brabham , should be cast magnesium not fabricated as these appear . Is that a dry sump tank hanging off gearbox , if so totally wrong and should be behind radiator at front . Water line inlet and outlet are not correct Brabhams do not have a plated rear undertray . Side panels should be one piece fibreglass moulding not riveted on alloy panels . Something is wrong with the rear shock absorber pick up points . Would need photo's with body off to ascertain further , however that may assist at this point. Bryan Miller. |
