G&W and Picchio done?
The car is for sale by G&W and while the press release is worded very carefully, reading between the lines is sounds like the team will no longer campaign a Picchio in the 2004.
If G&W is not involved then who would provide technical support for the Picchio? I would hope they can find someone else to work with in the U.S. that wants to further develop, support, and race the car. Without a U.S. base, it would be very difficult for Picchio to compete against U.S. based constructors like Fabcar, Doran, Crawford, Chase, and R&S, who will or have support people at the track. |

G&W were the importers for Picchio, were they not? I've heard there's a bunch of finger pointing going on there - "poor team management," "no factory support," etc. etc.
Price Cobb has got to be pretty frustrated. |

How does Picchio survive? I have seen their website, and I know they sold a few of the smaller cars, but their is no market for those anymore, and the DP project is drawing bad press---it did seem to perform pretty well at VIR (are they trying to prove a point in running the engine for record number of hours?).
Don't they have a factory, and staff, and hangers on, etc. How do they make payroll? I found it funny that there is talk of them having built a new DP to, I guess, rectify the short comings of current design, but it wasn't ever submitted for approval so may never race. Not indicitive of good business practices.... |

The G&W Pichio was third at the VIR 400. One of the drivers was Porsche Super Cup driver Patrick Huisman.
