Interesting item about Franchittii
I heard from a media friend something interesting about Dario Franchittii. Appearently Dario tried to buy the assets of Sigma Motorsports and was planning to run his own team next season. It seems that the deal fell through which brings us to the current rumor linking him to Newman/Hass.
If this is true than it does say a lot about where Dario wants to race. Last edited by MolsonBoy; 16 Aug 2002 at 15:49. |

Indeed it does.
By the way, is there any remote possibilty of Sigma being back? It was sad to see them have to go, they were impressive. |

I think they are trying to return in 2003.

The only other thing I have heard is that both the assets of Sigma and PWR have been sold. Who to I don't know.

The PWR rumours are fun- some people say Barry Green has them, others say Big Mo Gugelmin, certainly their cars (and Sigma's) could easily be back in 2003.
Dario's from the European road course racing scene, its great that he wants to carry on in CART rather than do an identikit oval, in underpowered hardware every other weekend in front of empty grandstands, greedy yet blind sponsors and a sycophantic series boss. I hope he gets a chance, Newman-Haas would be great. |

Dario is a CART racer through-and-through, and unlike certain other drivers, is more interested in hard, clean racing than the almighty dollar.
His heart lies in CART and it will take something big for him to even consider a move to the Invisible League. |

Dario has always said that his heart was in CART. The new set up to encourage teams back in next year will lead to full fields and we'll see a great year of CART racing. Dario and DaMatta- whatta team!
