Thanks for that hakkiman. Perhaps we should ask the other 3500 forum members who aren't going to post the same.

Yeah, superb! Think I'm gonna make this my annual season starter...
Watch out on the TV coverage for Big Olly... who caused one of the cars to take a detour up an escape road on Stage 10 (I think) |

Uh oh! What has Olly been up to now....
Wasn't it cold, Craig? It didn't stop raining today in miserable buckinghamshire. |

He just didn't hear the marshal's whistle (you get a 3 or 4 second warning before the car is on you) and was still stood in the road as the car was taking avoiding action... ooops...
Cold ? Not at all... I wore three layers and had to lose one half way through the day. Highlights ? Probably the funniest thing was in one of the car parks where we all had to help push a 4x4 out of the mud... On the stages themselves though, the most impressive thing was the number 42 Escort which ended up in a 6' deep ditch full of water... at a 45 degree angle. Nine minutes later, with much help from the crowd, he'd driven 400 or 500 yards at that angle and made it out the other end of the ditch. He sped off, but retired at the next service stop sadly. Spooner has some great footage of this, and I believe he had a phone call from the TV company about it this morning! Other than that, there were a couple of loonies from the local TV news show giving it a go - despite having never finished a day without roofing their motor previously! Oh, and the lovely VB-H was competing too... All in all, a great day. The best laugh I've had for months! |

erm... no. It wasn't a round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship. That doesn't start until after Easter.

thought it was odd that I hadn't heard anything. It was just that someone told me yesterday that he was having his first rally this weekend.

"Watch out on the TV coverage for Big Olly... who caused one of the cars to take a detour up an escape road on Stage 10 (I think)"
Surely the above is an example of irresponsible behaviour, with potentiall very serious consequences. Not just for the individual concerned but for the competing crew who's stage time you ruined, and if a major accident had occured to the event and indeed the future of rallying in this country. Surely this is yet another reason why the granting of media credentials to representatives of web based media should be examined very closely indeed. |

I don't think this has anything to do with media credentials, Takuma. None of the people attending the event from this forum were there in any official capacity. Time to climb off the soap box, old chap.

Takuma, climb down from your soap box before someone kicks it and causes you to fall off and hurt yourself...
For your information, if justification were needed... no sod it I'm not gonna waste my breath. |

Your actions were irresponsible irrespective of wether you were there as a spectator or member of the media. Is there not elsewhere on this site a discussion of the new safety guidelines introduced as a result of spectators been in prohibited areas on last years Rally GB. An accident involving spectators on a national level event will have very negative effects on the whole motorsports industry, perhaps that doesn't worry you at all?

And who said we were in a restricted area ?
Yet again you spout off without knowing the facts. Go on, report us to the MSA like you claimed you were going to do last time... dare you. Maybe they will be more inclined to look at the facts rather than keep harping on about something they don't know anything about... |

Based on the above quote ,I think it would be accurate to say that you did! |

Craig,
If I misinterpreted one of your staements I appologise. However even you must admit that standing in the middle of the road of an active rally stage is a dangerous act. |

So you've never done anything irresponsible, Takuma? Anyway, from what Craig has posted, it sounds like an innocent mistake - not hearing a whistle.
Still yet to hear what this has to do with media credentials.. |
