Ex HDT A9X Torana in New Zealand

I noticed that there is a pic of what appears to be a Holden Dealer Team A9X Torana in NZ in 2002 (see link) Does anyone know if it is a genuine HDT car???

Are you sure the pic is from 2002, Chris?
Looks very period to me

The Torana is an ex Brock car that has been restored and runs, or ran
in historic meetings.
It is owned by John Harvey.
I'll dig out some more concrete info.

There is a car in those colours racing here,I have seen it at the big classic meeting at Ruapuna and I think they crashed it at Wigram about three years ago, but I don't know if its the genuine article though.

I'd also be interested in knowing what track that is at as I don't recognise it.

The photo was taken at Bay Park on December 30 1979. Peter Brock was driving the M-HDT Torana and Jim Richards and the car owner Graeme Whincup both drove the Chev Monza. It's Richards in the photo as Whincup did not race against Brock. Number 1 is the Wayne Huxford Capri V8. Gary Rogers also raced an A9X.

Thanks Milan,

I thought the Monza looked familiar. I don't recall that event at all though. NZ must have seen Brock's last ever drive in the A9X in that case, just like Moffat and his Mustang...

Wondered about the track, as I didn't recognise it, Baypark is the only NZ track I haven't been to

Yep,I was sitting about where that photo was taken from on that date,if I remember Brock was a little outclassed by the NZ cars.

Richards clocked a 58.8s in practice. Huxford did a 60.4s and Brock managed a 60.7s in the first session and didn't run in the second.

Brock finished second to Richards in both the handicap race and the feature race.

You've got to remember Brock was driving a "touring car" whereas the others were sports sedans.
