I won't go into details at the moment on race 1 results. But I SHOULD be watching race 2 right now..or at least just finished watching but it has been cancelled due to extremely bad weather.

I have to say well done to troy Corser on taking a stand against the officials about race 2..the track was completely flooded and the officials (international ones not the local guys) wanted them to race..but Corser took an extraordinary stand and physically blocked the pitlane and wasnt going to let any rider past him..2 or 3 riders went out and did one lap including Colin Edwards and reported that it was crazy riding in those conditions.

I have never seen rain like that before down at Phillip Island..it was torrential and the track was flooded and there was no way they could race in the conditions.

thankfully common sense prevailed and the race was cancelled ..which was a shame but totally understandable with the rain as it was.

I agree Marcus, And disgusting was it that a rider even needed to to take a stand like that. The officials really need a kick in the you know what. Did you see the shots of the track 10 mins later - Some of the corners had 1/2 the track under water.

BTW, great ride by Brock Parks

race directors need heads read if they think that bike riders should go out in that not even the round the world yacht race would go out in those conditions

hello there is more to life than racing - its called life itself!!

The worst thing about the dispute was that it was the Ducatti team manager Davide Tardozzi who was engaged in the heated argument with Troy Corser shown on TV. It was a shame that Troy did not suggest Mr. Tardozzi go out to inspect the track himself. The conditions were treacherous, with not only the track flooded, but some runoff areas were knee deep in muddy water.

I congratulate Troy Corser for the stand he made.

First- G'day all

Second- I was there @ PI on Sunday, and while I can see Corsers point, I think he handled himself poorly. IMO, he should have NEVER prevented other riders from going out. Perhaps they should have done a sighting lap from one of the course cars? While he is entitled to an opinion, he should not have forced it onto others.

Having said that, I understand totally that it was too wet to race. Geez, I was one of those poor saps that had track time booked at PI on monday & even I blew it off as not worth the risk!

welcome to ten tenths Yammyfan.

i think troy was really concerned for everyones safety..no one wants to see anybody get hurt if their on pole or 15 seconds a lap slower..ok maybe it wasnt right to block the track as he did but it was definately a brave and impressive move in my books..he did let a few go out and they reported back that it was too dangerous therefore his stand i think was justifiable.

anyway I hope you didnt get to wet and sorry you didnt get a chance for a ride around the track that would have been awesome to do.

welcome again and happy posting.

From what I could tell, none of the riders were forced into it. Edwards, Bayliss and Bostrom were definitely on side and I'd say that Troy wouldn't have forced anyone to stay in the pits.

But I do agree they should have gone out in a course car and checked the conditions...and I mean before Troy had to block pitlane. It should have been sent out, checked the track, and then the race delayed and in this case eventually cancelled.

The spectator area on the straight looked ankle deep in water on top of the mud that was already there and that was draining down to the tyre wall below it and taking the earth behind the wall out and into the muddy water below. And then there is the rest of the track where similar things were happening. So even if the track itself had been ok, the run-off and tyre walls were not in any condition for the race to go ahead.
