Hot Topic RSC2023 R4 Symmons Plains Raceway
Down to the Apple Island for the first time, for the Generation 3 supercars.
Things go better with Coke, or will it be Red Bull by a country mile? |

Hopefully there are no parity issues and the Mustangs can engine brake nicely into and power down nicely out of the hairpins to take two dominant victories and show there are no parity imbalances. If not, back to the drawing board to assess the supposed difference in engine inertia -- if any. It really would be the perfect venue to swap engine installations between #97 & #17 to collect back-to-back data against #88 & #11 with the original engine to see if there are any differences in engine braking or throttle response, or none whatsoever. |

Looks like good weather, cold mornings and cool sunny days!
Pretty tight programme for supercars, need to be up to speed quickly or you will enjoying starting down the back of the grid. It would be nice to see a Mustang victory or two! |

Don't know if it's the parity issue or just genuine performance but Ford teams are in a big big hole and that probably won't change this year at all. DJR are slipping towards the very rear of the field... |

Saying that though, Tickford might be one of the worst "big" teams out there. I swear they never win, even in the last generation car.
I thought Erebus might be a flash in the pan this season, starting well and then falling away once others start to catch up but they really seem to have found something. Please for Heimgartner to get a decent result, underrated driver imo |

Interesting that Larko did a piece yesterday (Sunday) on the performance of the Ford teams generally. Went out of his way to say that he's a Ford guy, he would like to seem them winning & all that but he then identified where the Ford teams were getting it wrong and getting beaten.
He used Waters vs Van Gis specifically from Saturday's race, fighting for 3rd and showed that the difference was a poor pit stop from Water's team. Better stop and Waters would have been on the podium. Then there was a Davey Reynolds interview after the last race and he pointed out that they were as fast as anyone during the race but haven't worked out a good qualifying car so are too far back to have any impact - Chaz said something similar. Maybe it really IS a question of the teams that have got themselves all sorted happen to be Camaro teams. |

Dear Greta Thumberg,
I would like to inform you that under no circumstances is global warming occurring at Symmons Plains. Regards Fossil Fuel User. Ford Mustang Teams, needed to be relegated to Division 2 until they can get there pooh together. Apart from the Erebus team, the other team that are very quietly getting on with the job are the guys from MSR. There cars look very impressive on the track, interesting to watch later in the year. Nice to see Ronan Murphy get a victory in the VW cup race on Sunday. |

Also with a car with far more control components, maybe it's the time of really well run teams to shine. |

I only saw the highlights but there didn't seem to be much difference in straight line speed between the two makes, they're doing more engine tests on a machine in Melbourne in early June and that may be the end of any changes.

Going by what Ryan Walkinshaw says, the issue isn't so much the speed, but the stuttering power delivery is torching the tyres and making the handling very difficult.
