Round 10: German Grand Prix
I dont think that Im going to have time to do a preview this weekend (there's always one race a year that I miss!) but I'm looking forward to this weekend's race.
It will be interesting to see if Massa can keep his form going into this race and whether Button can string together a full weekend. He looked better at Silverstone but the weather made it a lottery.

Frostie, how you can find the time to write such in-depth and professional previews amazes me!

It is startling to believe that we are almost at the half way point of the season already, and even with 20 races! McLaren always seem to do well in the mid season, (Their recent successes at Hungary speak for themselves) they have brought a raft of upgrades to help them resuscitate their championship challenge.

Nice intro again, frostie.

Once again, the weekend has got off to a wet start. It also looks like it could well follow the same weather pattern that Silverstone did.

Button topped FP1, and Maldonado topped FP2. Not sure what to read into that, if anything.

McLaren have a big upgrade package on which the jury is still out. Lotus have a 'Double DRS', which probably won't get used until later in the season.

More rain forecast for tomorrow.

There have also been some modifications to the first turn, which should stop drivers going very wide at turn one, from gaining any advantage. But overall, the circuit has more than enough run-off area.

What is it this year about dodgy gearboxes but every race there seems to be at least 2 drivers changing theirs. I see Webber is the latest victim, who will be joining Rosberg & Grosjean off the very front of the grid.

Alonso is relentless! 2 consecutive pole positions and perhaps driving the best of his career. I wonder how fast the McLarens will be in the race, because frankly, they need to get some good results and fast.

The McLaren's look hopeless in the wet, especially when compared to other front running cars. And it's probably not something that can be cured overnight. Fortunately, it looks like it's going to be a totally dry race tomorrow.

And how is the Cost/Benefit balance of developing a better wet car!?

I believe it's too high a cost compared to the chance/risk of another wet race/qualifying.

But i think the McLarens pace on the medium tire will give os something interesting.
