From todays Courier Mail (Jnr's Colum)
Jnr reporting from todays paper:-
1.DJR have tested at QR prior to packing for Bathurst(Tuesday I think) 2.FPR tested for 2 days (last Thu and Fri) and reporting testing went well. 3.Jnr has a new helmet design (A/Ber please note) from Craig at Headcase Designs. 4.Not sure about this one but Jnr is reporting a trip to China on Oct 12 to Nov 30. 5. DJR have hired a trackside house for the weekend (call in for drinks anytime) 6. They have an extra truck with enough parts to build a complete car. |

Point 3 should help him go fasteer
Points 5 and 6 - really this would apply to just about all the top teams As for point 4 - he's going to be away for the Indy Round? Somehow I think those dates are way out.. |

Did FPR test a Prodrive motor at a 2 day test - would be the right time to do it.
The dates for the China thing are out of the paper- unless he is in the parallel universe?? |

7 weeks is a hell of a long time - especially with Indy from OCt 24-26 being in the middle of those dates..

Not to mention he would miss the rest of the series also, NZ and EC.

Having read the column you've misunterstood what he said about the trip to China. The article stated that in the next couple of months they'll have Bathurst, Indy, N.Z., Eastern Creek & a trip to China all between October 12th & November 30th, so it appears he'll still be contesting the rest of the championship & won't be spending 7 weeks in China.

Re point 5 if all the other drivers called in it might give Jnr a better chance.

Vatuloa, now that's just mean
Jr. could possibly win even if all the other drivers don't have massive hangovers (I did say possibly, and anything is possible) |

A certain larger than life bon vivant refused a breathtest before the start of the 1988 race, where he eventually finished 4th in a BMW M3....
... and this guy had personal sponsorship from a champagne company |

Now I might have understood this response if we were talking 'bout the Indy. But GTR you're talking 'bout the Holy Grail of motorsport in this country.
I know the drivers rarely sleep, but getting ****ed enough to be either still drunk or hung over, at Bathurst???? |

Pftt..... what else is new? A good old fashion beer up is good for the soul.
It's not like V8's are ever likely to make the headline news for bad behaviour during said recreation, we're not football remember |

I have enough trouble walking to get bread & milk the morning after a night on the tiles. Let alone drive!

You really think that?
Let's work through the consequences...a driver goes out, gets drunk. The following day gets tested at a race meeting and 'discovered'. You honestly think that isn't going to be news? Maybe you should ask what newspaper articles appeared in Darwin3/4 years ago when a key Official got breathtested on the way to the track Sunday morning and failed! (IMHO the guy should never have been allowed back on the race track but CAMS events being CAMS events - he was....so much for zero alcohol for officials...) |

You know the sort, the ones where if Shane Warne or well any football player goes out and makes a fool of himself while drunk, it hits the front page or headline TV news; same situtation V8 driver or team, um maybe a mention somewhere if we're lucky Last edited by Lyris; 1 Oct 2003 at 03:57. |
