Il pilota inglese della Renault Mégane Estate nel Campionato danese turismo avrÃ* un nuovo compagno di squadra a partire dalla quinta prova della serie, in programma il 12 agosto al Ring Djursland. Il mese scorso il norvegense Thomas Faraas si è separato dalla Renault Motorsport Danmark, lasciando così un posto libero, posto che andrÃ* ad occupare lo svizzero Philippe Siffert, che farÃ* così il proprio debutto nella serie danese. Siffert è il figlio dell’indimenticato campione Joseph, morto il 24 ottobre 1971 a Brands Hatch, quando Philippe aveva appena nove mesi. Philippe Siffert ha debuttato in Formula Ford per poi passare alla serie GM Lotus e poi all’Amerian Barber Dodge Pro Series. Siffert jr ha anche partecipato alla 24 Ore di Le Mans, al Renault Sport Clio Trophy e ad altre gare per vetture sport.

Anyone with a love for the underdog and the true racer cheered on his father, a true Champion driver, whose first Formula One race was in a Formula Junior with a bored out engine, oversize wheels and a block of ballast.

The prospect of another Siffert making it to F1 certainly does have a certain appeal.

But having been born just nine months before the fatal fiery crash at Brands, he is getting a little old... by today's standards.
