New Pukekohe Park Raceway Manager
I noted in the NZ Herald on Friday that Mark Petch has been appointed the manager of motorsport and corporate affairs http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sports/spo...ection=general
What are your thoughts on this? |

Yes it is... he would be um... quite mature at the moment surely??
Whatever happened to Mark Petch Industrial Seals anyway? And the prospect of its ASX listing, which had roots waaay back in 1987? |

What needs to be written cannot be written....!
Is this the same guy who spoke out against TKR? Is this the manager/owner of Kayne Scott's controversial Supercheap NZ V8 Tourer? Oh boy....! Coincidence that he owns race horses? Nope, it helps to be inside the Gin and Tonic Brigade...! |

I struggle to see how that is going to damage NZ motorsport just because a team owner who has a slightly larger ego than normal is running the worst race track in New Zealand?
It is more of a problem that the best track in New Zealand is being run by a club which is not on the best terms with Motorsport NZ |

Let's do the maths....
Petch = AutoCar magazine = Kayne Scott's NZ V8 Touring Car = skid pan at Pukekohe Park Raceway = who pays = not Petch = another NZ motorsport backer burnt This is just criminal and as such most of the previous comments of concern are true. Be very afraid! |

Hi All
All I know is that Manfeild aren't running the endurance race next month on the long circuit because they haven't had time to fix the damage after the flooding. The news story is here: http://www.manfeild.co.nz/news_artic...&ArticleID=233 Don't think that means they have "lost" the track licence. Last edited by Tracy; 12 May 2004 at 23:13. |

sorry sorry Teretonga
I should of said the 2nd best track in NZ, Ruapuna. What Rounds have they had of NZ champs in the last few years? Manfeild and Pukekohe are great tracks if you want to learn how to develop good high speed dampers but not if you want to drive on a smoothish track. The best race track in the North Island is the Hamilton Kart Track. If you want to understand why go watch some open karts airborne at 150kph over the start finsh hill. Yeah but who cares who is running the show.We only go there to race.If we get cranky the lads will just take their toys somewhere else so there is no risk.

It will be hard to get the fog(no not you Foggy)to fade out all the cars bar one however it has been done before. There surely would be no suggestion of favouratism in NZ motorsport and certainly not in journalistic circles.Wash your mouth out young man( preferably with a solvent available at a recently ventured auto retailer)

I still haven't seen why having Petch in charge is bad for business. Have to agree with the statement you have there keener about who cares who is running the show. We only go there to race, well said mate. |
