GPL fans - Rally Trophy
(Sorry if this is really old news )
Picked up Rally Trophy for £10 last week and can thoroughly recommend it to GPLers out there. It might not be quite the same standard but the physics, graphics and overall feel are of a 60s/70s rally GPL. Hell you even get a Lotus Cortina to play with and pretend you are Jim Clark. It's a game that before GPL I would really have struggled with, but with my GPL experience I can get right into it. Certainly my throttle control is a lot more sensitive and sympathetic than it was from my console days. It makes a nice change to GPL but without that huge lowering of standard you normally get playing any other driving game! |

I've seen it about in the bargain bins or second hand. I thought about buying it but I had no idea if it was any good. Is it a game that can be added on to? Are there downloads available anywhere?

There are limited downloads Ayse, a few cars (some look very nice) and a couple of tracks. One track may be of interest, a certain GPL inspired Ring. Available in tarmac or gravel (!) versions.
Try this website for an idea of what is out there: http://www.no-grip.org/index.php Not a huge amount, but the game itself is certainly worth a tenner, my first impressions are that as an occassional and decent alternative to GPL it is pretty good. I won the novice rallies fairly easily with the Cortina, but the expert level with a Escort RS2000 was ugly. |

Right. When I can find a few minutes out of my GPL schedule, I'll give it a go.
Of course, when I do find those few minutes, I really ought to be updating my web site. Still only 1 page up out of 4 planned for Le Mans 2003! |

At least you update yours... But then you pay for it, so it's better not to waste it.. I still can't believe you agreed to leave before the finish though... |

I know, I know......
Actually, I get my web space as part of my overall broadband package - but yes, I do therefore pay for it - I tend to look on it as an added bonus! Actually, I didn't leave before the finish. I just had to go with those who insisted on leaving before the finish...... |

Yes, that must have been it.
I was still there in spirit. (And I was in a lot more spirit of the calvados variety later than evening..... ) |

For rally games in general this is probably one of the best out there. With most nowadays being too arcady, i even considered getting this, even though i dont like GPL as i havent played a rally game for a while and wanted to get in to it again. Though having played most demos for the more recent ones out, there'all pretty bad.
