I knew the rounds I wanted to go to would be after one another! Thats Croft and Oulton.
Shall take my wellies with me for Knockhill. Going there in September is ludicrous! |

3 clashes with the other main S2000 Touring Car Championship is probably the best that could be hoped for.
It leaves open opportunities for WTCC teams to make trips across for outings. I'm not sure if such a thing will happen but it'd be nice to see cars and drivers have far more races per season. It would be handy to find out how many WTCC/BTCC races are on subsequent weekends - that also may be a stumbling block to any wishing to compete. |

The clash that jumped out at me is the Thruxton/FIA GT's at Silverstone one, which seems odd as lot people may (me included) want to both.

It almost looks like Mr Gow has planned it to clash with just about every major motorsport event in the UK.
It he (a) trying to sabotage their gate figures, or (b) trying to lose his own spectators and drivers by clashing with the two most important events on the British Motorsport calendar - Goodwood - Festival of Speed and Revival. I was wondering if Rockingham was going to return to the calendar, but nope, they'd rather not use the best (most modern) facility in the UK. Politics Politics. And to hijack the date for the Peterboro' MC meeting at Silverstone. Shameful. Rob. |

If anything there are less clashes this year. 2006 was the first time there wasn't a clash with Goodwood FoS for maybe 5 years. Live TV means they have to avoid GP weekends, just as Goodwood and every other big event does so some clashes were inevitable. BTW I'm sure the British GP, Rally GB, Moto GP, WSB and others might take issue with your "two most important events on the British Motorsport calendar" suggestion.
Rockingham only has limited dates available. By the time they've run ASCAR/DoT/SCSA/WhateverIt'sCalledThisYear there no space for anyone else. Quote on Autosport from : "The reason Silverstone is missing is purely down to dates. We were offered a date by the BTCC which we can't commit to at the moment. |

And if Alan Gow has done what you suggest, I'm sure he could have planned more clashes if he wanted to! |

Oh I beg to differ! The facilities are great - it's just the available space in which they're placed is too small, forcing many to use the outer paddock, which is in the next county.

But you are right in one sense. Nobody wants to stage an event which clashes with Formula One, so that only leaves around 15 weekends for everything else. Essentially there is still too much motorsport in this country. |

There isn't as many clashes with the WTCC calender as this year which is better.
However, if there were no clashes between WTCC and BTCC drivers could do both full championships!! IF Silverstone doesn't make the final calender I wouldn't be too upset. It's too flat for touring cars, I'd welcome a 2nd round at Knockhill or Oulton Fosters instead. |

Gah! 2 Circuits holding 2 events? That's ridiculous!
Instead of going back to Brands Hatch, why not go to Knockhill? Instead of going back to Thruxton, Why not Rockingham. And in 2008, surely Anglesey and Pembrey would be worthy of consideration (after the work has been completed on both circuits) |

Knockhill already have one event. Have had for many years. So why would going back to Knockhill twice make more sense than Brands hatch twice? And in the 90's many circuits had two events a year - so what's so ridiculous about that? Pembrey and Anglesey don't have anywhere near the ability to host the BTCC and support races. Why didn't you also suggest Lydden Hill? - because that's just as incapable too. Last edited by touring fan01; 5 Dec 2006 at 16:06. |

It does make less sense for circuits to hold two events now because, compared to the 1990s, there are less meetings in a BTCC season.
On the subject of Pembrey and Anglesey, both are undergoing development work - especially Anglesey - with at least half an eye on attracting larger events (although I am not entirely sure that is a very good idea). |
